I don't really have but a couple cactus...but lots of succulents and I surely wouldn't want to lose them to the wrong soil.

Also from other online reading I would not use too much sand, it can make the soil heavy...you probably know that but just in case! Thumbs up

Thanks Greg. Yup...learned that the hard way...very first plant I had was a cactus...grows in the desert right...desert is sand...right...oops...sand does not make a good medium in South LA by itself....cacti rot in it... Shrug!

I am in 9a....before the revamp of the AHS map, I was in 8b1/2 Big Grin We still get freezing weather and frosts, they just don't last as long. I am in the process of discovering who can live comfortably/survive here and who can't. prior to the end of February i had a few kalanchoes, a couple jades,a couple aloes, 3 haworthias.a graptosedum and a graptopetalum. They all seemed quite able to hold their own, and I love the look of succulents.

For our anniversary my Husband bought me 8 Echeveria, 2 aloes,an andromischus cristata, Silver edge aeonium, an Anacampseros rufescens, 4 Crassulas, a Fenestraria aurantiaca, a graptoveria, 2 new Graptosedums, Kalanchoe eriophylla, Euphorbia tirucalli, a Gibbaeum heathii, 3 pleiospilos nelii,a Rhipsalis cereuscula, 5 sedums, 2 Senecios, 3 Sedverias, a sempervivum arachnoideum 'Cebenese', a Cotyledon, a delosperma and a Pachyveria glauca

For the past 2 weeks I have been gawking in awe at them and trying to collect as much care data as possible nodding

It wasn't a new succulent for each year you've been together, was it? If not, he sure picked quite a group for you!
What a wonderful DH! and what an added collection for you.

Very nice Moon!! Now you'll have to figure out which can go with which! Big Grin cold (hardy succulents) as compared with tender. Have fun with them! You now have a full garden huh!! I tip my hat to you. Hurray!

Thanks...quite a few are frost tender, a couple prefer more shade than the rest some like only morning sun....so everyone is sort of grouped and all will be going into containers for now. In a year or so, there will hopefully be some to share.

Thanks...we were watching old Westerns a while back and got caught up in some of the titles....if this plant were the star of a western it would be "High Noon At Split Rock"..... Smiling
The petals are almost like eyelashes they are so narrow.
