Welcome! to the forum. I'm going to move your question to the Iris forum where more Iris growers may be able to assist.

Are you able to upload a photo of it?

Welcome! Martine! A photo could be helpful, but there are many many cultivars of tall bearded iris. It may not even be a registered iris. Did she say how long the iris has been growing in this garden?

It looks like an historic. But it dosn't look like any of the brown bitone TBs that I see pictured in the database. However, in making that search of the database, I noticed that most of the search results had never had photos entered for them. So it's likely that you will never be able to determine its cultivar name. On the other hand, it may also be an unregistered seedling. . Probably your only chance for identifying it is if some member has it and recognizes it.

Looks like an old one. The picture looks a little dark--I assume the iris are a little lighter. Here's a couple of ideas:

Action Front:

I saw both of these for sale at Chailey Iris garden (UK), so I it wouldn't be surprising to find them in landscapes.

It is a beautiful wine color. I hope it does well for you. It will make a stunning clump for sure.
