Let's see what you have done with stuff you propagated.

I made this yard pot out of cuttings I saved inside over winter. Angel trumpets (Brugmansia), Coleus, a few other snips.

I redid this pot a couple months ago by propagating in place, adding cuttings directly.

These are really nice! I am new to propogation, so I am still learning. I tried propogating coleus from stem cuttings and from single leaves this year for the first time. I also did some torenia. Some I used rooting hormone and some not.

I watched some youtube videos for inspiration.

Still learning, and hoping to propogate my roses this fall.

Thank you very much! I hope you have as much fun with propagation as I do. ; )

For your roses, you could try laying a brick on a low stem now, if they're shaped in a way that you can do that. The part of the stem that is in contact with the soil should take root, then you don't have to worry about a cutting. When you cut it, it will already have roots. This is ground layering.

Enjoying this spot so much, a bunch of little bits of this'n'that stuck in the soil in the spring. It's right in front of my porch chair. The Geraniums (Pelargoniums) were purchased with roots but the rest of it is props.

I mostly propagate to make more plants from the ones i already have. Either because after a few years they get tired/leggy/too big or to have multiples for difficult ones that might die on me in winter while i am away in FL .
I am currently sitting in Miami FL watching Ian's progress (we'll prolly reschedule our Wed flight to Fri) and am busily cutting to take some back to NJ (the sickly ones that might die on me soon). I might experiment and leave a few just sprouting seeds on wicks and some fresh cuttings in water that will grow better in FL over winter.
Out of 70 plants i have here only 4-6 are original bought plants. The rest if my forest was propagated๐Ÿ˜. Too many to post here: from tiny cups to 5' monsters.
Most i brought as cuttings just before lock-down as we were thinking of relocating to FL. Still thinking, still not sure, so i am maintaining 2 plant locations and hoping to have enough surviving by the time we make a decision where to land..

Seems it shifted a bit to the west, touchdown around Perry. And cat 2, not 3โ€ฆ but tomorrow we'll know better.
I wont be able to take the demolition of my garden in FL: hence undecided to settle here ๐Ÿ™„.
Now they changed to cat 1 on landing.
Accuweather has a good local ian tracker.

After dealing with hurricanes since 1970 on gulf coast Texas and now in Florida, I can tell you that the trackers are a nice thing but you can't really tell if you are going to get hit until like the day before. I've been directly hit by hurricane Celia (cat 4, later downgraded to strong cat 3) in Texas in 1970, hurricane Alicia, cat 3 on Galveston island in 1983, back to back within 2 weeks of each other Frances and Jean here in Florida in 2004, and cat 1 Irma most recently. Irma caused widespread destruction and flooding here, and put 2 trees on my house. So saying it's just a cat 1 is a mistake.

I have all my stuff packed into the greenhouse early this week in case Ian does come here. Some hanging trays of anthurium seedlings that are approaching a year old. When I say packed, I mean packed lol

I think they were saying Michael wasn't very strong and right before it hit Mexico Beach, it strengthened to a C5 and hit HARD. They never did find some of the people who tried to ride it out.

One of the very eerie things that happened is that hurricane Celia in 1970 made a direct hit landfall at my town, little fishing village Rockport Texas. All these years later, not long ago, Hurricane HARVEY also hit Rockport as a direct hit. I still know people who live there, never left after high school. Many lost their homes. The cemetery where my parents are interred suffered major damage. They are nothing to mess with. We are keeping a close eye. When they are saying it can come ashore anywhere between Tampa and Pensacola basically, we are right in the middle of that. Being an hour inland really doesn't help. I only have 4 plants left to jam into my greenhouse tomorrow. Then I will be as ready as I am going to be.

I've only been in Sandy in 2012 sitting in JC for 5 days in a highrise, listening to the howling wind and watching plate glass railing bulging out in a frame. And i think it was only 55mile winds with gusts, but on higher floors it's more.
We have storm windows and all but only 100 yards from Hudson. We had 5' of water in the lobby (only overnite for a short time) and waterpumps were off, so lugging water in giant tubs from the lobby for the bathroom..: elevators on generators manual operation.
But we still had emergency electricity , tv, internet. Dry, no leaks, fridge ok.
That's the worst i want to experience ๐Ÿ˜.

And i watched Irma on utube on my st in Miami, 5' of water on Brickell (main st) and 9' off the bay st where our loading docks are. We were not renting full time then, so less worry. That was in Sep, in Dec we rolled in for the season and everything was as usual..just some palm frond/tree debree on the side of the roads here and there. But it blew out several high fl (50s) glass on balconies facing directly East.
25mile winds here r often in winter and up to 35 is Ok, but more is scary.
