I have see a lot of them listed for my zone but they still say they need a cold spell. I am supposed to dig them all up and put them in the refrigerator? I don't think so... Whistling
I like something I can plant and forget (for the most part) the species sound like my best bet. I can't stand B&B's website. It is so dang slow, it drives me crazy! Like I said before a lot depends on how easy it is to order. I just cannot deal with B&B's website. I might download the catalogue and call or mail the order, at least if I mail it I do not have to worry about giving out my credit card number. I will check out Scheepers first, do they take PayPal?

I don't think so on the paypal. And I agree. Forget anything you have to redig, it is not worth all that work.

I have these red darwins called COME BACK tulips. I ordered last year from B&B but this year I ordered more from McClure & Z. Anyway my point was going to be that another forum friend (on Gardenworld) planted these and now has them comming up for the third straight year and she is in Alabama. Mostly she has to buy prechilled tulips but those Come Back tulips have been troopers for her. And they are really beautiful. They should be a very good choice for you.

I won't have time to do bulbs this fall but maybe next year so I'll probably pick your brain then. I sure love yours!

Over the summer I ordered lots of bulbs including so many of all the perennial tulip classes. Some of my bulbs have already arrived and I have been planting all week.

Next year I will have those perennial tulips from last year and all the new ones I am planting this fall. So there will be more pictures than ever before. Just wait till spring!

Oh, dear!! I wish I had time to plant some tulips. I am still planting daylilies. LOL. We are working on a new bed so I will be able to plant what is in pots. The bed will be 62 feet long. Whistling

Susan, what you need to do is plant those daylilies allowing some space around and between them for bulbs. Then if you can't do it this year, next fall add tulips and daffs.

It is wonderful to add those spring bulbs to daylily beds. You suddenly have two complete and separate seasons of bloom from the same space. Plus the daylily foliage as it grows in spring tends to hide the ratty dying foliage of the spring bulbs.

Absolutely!

For mixed perennial gardening here, using spring bulbs adds weeks of colour
to the front end of the growing season, both before the large bulk of spring perennials
start to bloom and at slow blooming periods during spring.
