Middle Tennessee, but my heart (Zone 7a)
I've been a Hoya nut for 15 or 20 years (ever since a tiny garden center carnosa unexpectedly busted out with impossibly fragrant blooms, and I said, "What is going on here???") But until recently I've been in a small Chicago condo with limited space and light. Now I live in Tennessee , and my greenhouse is almost ready. I'm about to put my obsession into high gear! I'm hoping to learn new things and compare Hoya joys and challenges with other Hoya nuts!

Right now my collection includes australis, polyneura, pallilimba, memoria, pubifera, pubicalyx, dasayantha, Kerrii, obovata, obscura, nummarlarioides, lacunosa, fitchii, and carnosas that I've had for years. Plus some new arrivals: kentiana, fungii, and curtisii.

I'm especially interested in the fragrant species but I'm hungry to experience all I can of the world of Hoyas.

Looking forward to connecting!

Lisa

Hi Lisa, Welcome!

With so many types of Hoya plants in your collection, it sure sounds like you are a true "Hoyaddict'" and will fit right in here with the rest of us! I'm getting up in age and I don't have near as many Hoyas (or or other plants) that I did 30+ years ago but I still enjoy the few that hang out on my pool deck.

Your second photo looks like an amazing spa and what a beautiful greenhouse! I really love that building style!

Again, welcome to the Hoya forum; look forward to seeing more of your photos and also your greenhouse once it's complete and filled to the brim! Green Grin!

Thanks for the welcome. The greenhouse will be the new home for most of those hoyas around the tub. I'm a bit nervous about the transition, especially because now we're in the midst of a brutal heat wave and some of the hoyas are even getting sunburned in the house. They're like my pets—I don't want to lose any.

I'm kind of an old bird, too—recently retired with time for all my hobbies. 😊

Awesome greenhouse!
You will need one of the funny tshirts on etsy that are about hoya fanatics. 😄

Welcome! Hoya collecting bit me hard as well. Smiling
For scent try subcalva. Celata has a faint pretty scent. Some of mine haven't bloomed yet so I can't vouch for scent.

Wax Plant (Hoya subcalva) has been on my wish list for a long time. That's the one that is said to have a fragrance of Grape Juice!!

I saw a t shirt not too long ago, captioned, "It's not hoarding if it's plants." nodding

Welcome to the forum Lisa. Welcome!

Love your new greenhouse and looking forward to seeing. it plush with Hoya's.

Hoya australis subsp. tenuipes is the most fragrant that I have encountered so far.

Hi Hoya friends, this is my Hoya obavada, it is growing in water and is about a year old! I have been growing hoyas for about 30 years.
