We do not add the photos from ADS, they belong to the photo owners.
We have added photos from many of the hybridizers siteS but the caption alway states it's with their permission along with a clickable link to their website.
To see who has given us permission, scroll to the bottom of any page and click the 'Links'.
If anyone gets permission from another vendor/nursery, I can set up the clickable link function and give instructions on how to go about adding their photos, just let me know. Thumbs up

Jinxy, newly acquired, didn't bloom this year (yet), but if it does, you can be sure sooner or later I'll add it (and hopefully score the coveted "double acorn" award)!

Perhaps what was meant was there while there are pics in the database here, there is not one in the AHS database for that cultivar - which is the case for 'Jinxy'. If I recall correctly AHS started requiring a photo with registration in 2010 but I think there are a few after that that for some (technical?) reason that don't have one.

I wonder what sort of reason causes a few of the AHS registrations after 2010 to not have photos - not having a camera, perhaps?

Only one reason, allowing plants to be registered without a photo.

Or a photo was submitted but for some reason wasn't or didn't upload into the online database. I know one other volunteer organization for which I enter data has a glitch where for some reason what is submitted, and shows in their internal database, doesn't always for some reason show in the online version. But in this case perhaps it also has something to do with its being 2011 registration so pretty close to the photo requirement introduction in 2010. It's not the only 2011 registration that doesn't have a photo.

If ADS is actively looking for missing cultivar pictures, there are certainly some NGA member ones for Jinxy. Mine is also new and unbloomed.

Good point, so allowing registration without a photo, and technology failures. I would think both of those could have been resolved. Maybe crashes that deleted the info with no backups? Nothing is perfect. I forget that even in 2010 not everyone had digital cameras, so they may have sent in slides, even paper printed photos?
Gosh, now that I think more about it.. what a job that must have been.
I have spent the past few days trying to correct some of my errors in my plant step program, and add photos to it. I found over twenty plants last night that I had photos of but that I had not added to my plant step program.

Yes, originally a photo was optional and could be a 35mm slide etc. Looking in the email Robin archives there was a request from the then Registar in 2010 to resize digital images before uploading them because images that were too big were causing problems with the system. They are trying to catch up with photos but think about how many cultivars have been registered, I think over 90,000 last time I looked. That's a lot of photos! A good number are probably not even still grown. The photos also have to be approved before being uploaded, there is a committee just for that, and I'm not sure if the hybridizer has to be involved if still alive.

Other insults to daylily plant wellbeing will come along. But daylilies are lovely and will offer you unexpected delights, making it more than worthwhile. Ups and downs, with a sum gain.

There are several FB groups (Daylily Buyers' Review Forum, Daylily Buying- the Good, the Bad and the Ugly...) that focus on reviewing daylily sellers. You can join if you wanted straight feedback on sellers. Feedback isn't sugar-coated.

This reminds me to complain to K Van Bourgondien for sending me dead-as-a-doornail phlox plants and the wrong kind of fern... Thumbs down

Thanks for the tip on those FB groups; I've joined both and found them to be very helpful. Hurray! Thumbs up
