I decided to plant clover around the main plants in my bee garden to deter other weeds and have something the bees like - but it appears to be mutant clover - it's massive. I wanted it to be the same normal size as I see in my lawn. Why is it so big?

maybe you planted red clover? I think more likely in a seed packet than white clover such as you know from the lawn.

Plant it and they will come.

Hi SallyG Definitely I purchased white clover - as it's suitable for both short and long tongued bees - see photo of purchased product Smiling

I have no other theory, sorry to say. A rich soil + more fertilizer might make bigger more lush plants- but- Even the leaf shape is more like red clover.
This being weekend, maybe others are slow to come along. Someone else may have an idea. Crossing Fingers!
Plant it and they will come.

I'm imagining what a four-leafed clover would look like that big! Hilarious! I used to collect them when I was a (weird) kid, had hundreds of them, but only normal sized. And I remember when my cousin Kenny grabbed 1 that I had just found and ate it, I was crushed! Hilarious! I was really obsessed with them for some reason.
