To help our experts tell everything you know about it. When was it planted, thorns, growth pattern, season of blooming, where it is growing, and anything else that occurs to you. More photos, including the whole plant, would also help.
I received a message back from Jackson & Perkins Horticultural staff. They believe it's some type of Red Blooming Cabbage Rose 🌹 They had no idea of what variety it could possibly be though.
Thank you for the reply Lyn! 'Gruss an Teplitz' is a beautiful rose and a similar color, but that particular variety is known to have 26-40 petals. The rose in my garden has around 80-100+ petals, I've counted the petals of a few of the flowers from the unknown rose over the course of a few years. I'm trying to catalog my entire garden and I have over a hundred types of roses planted around my yard, about 20 rose plants are untagged because I bought them from random places unmarked. Anyways I love roses and other various fragrant flowering plants 🌹 I have another unknown rose that looks closer to 'Gruss an Teplitz', I'll post a photo with this reply!
