Oh My Peonies opened their catalog! Prices are good. I like their roots, good quality.

Forest Creek Farmhouse in Ontario and Halifax Perennial in Nova Scotia are open as well. Surprisingly Caledon Hills won't sell peony roots in 2023. Halifax Perennial has a lot of interesting TPs, but prices are simply astronomical.

The prices are for spring 2023. Maybe for the fall delivery they will be better

Did you see the $1000, - $5000 exclusive peonies at Swenson!!! OMG. Surely only for growers. So many gorgeous blooms in any price range. It is so difficult to resist.

I haven't taken a serious look at Swenson's catalog for a few years now but took a quick look to see what's worth $5000, that's more than Joshua's seedlings! I didn't see a $5000 one, which one was it? I really dislike their peony descriptions. I want to know the bloom week, how big the blooms are, are there sidebuds, etc.
It would have to be a pretty special and unique peony to be worth $1000 or more for me. That'd buy a LOT of really nice tree peonies!

You have to hit the home tab first and the Exclusive Seedlings tab on the left. The highest price I saw was $6000. That has to be a whole lot of beautiful to even consider.

I guess if you were setting up to sell and wanted to have an almost exclusive stock….maybe?

With Swensons, I would rather wait a few years to hear of the track record on some of these peonies and I don't feel they have that yet. Introducing scores of peonies in a year doesn't seem like a careful eye with careful selection. I am not a professional, but I have listened to enough reputable growers in my life to know it can be a flag, so to speak.

Pretty pictures are a nice way to get through the winter though.

Swenson's hasn't been active in APS, really wish they would attend the conventions and show their new intros.

I like to buy roots from a grower and not from a retailer.
For some suppliers this is hard to tell?

He's had a catalog listing that he's sent around, for years. I tell him he has some different selections that others don't have, so it's nice to have an opportunity, at some of these. His prices are good and the roots I have received in the past, I've been very happy with.

Thanks Tracey for the link to Parker's Peony. I have been looking to replace my double red fernleaf peony and he has it for a good price. I will place an order for that soon.

Yes, it is nice to have one more source for peonies from a peony enthusiast. He normally ships to the continental states but maybe if I really need something I can ask for an exception.

Or Anya, have it shipped to a friend in the lower 48 and transshipped to you. I remember Scott from our one sojourn to the peony convention. A really nice guy.

Hollingsworth mailed a coupon today, $33 off $100 order from now until 8/31/23. I know their roots are small, but all of mine (except Bartzella) were very vigorous and no complaints. I am also appreciative that they reply very quickly to any problem.
