Spring has not arrived here yet but thoughts of spring are in my head


I have started some plans and gathered some seeds and doing some wintersowing
Yesterday it was 14 and today 40 and sunny



I will be posting garden photos and progress here because Cubit's is shutting down and I need to see my progress somewhere.
The past 13 years on cubits have been archived on an in home server but not set up to receive posts....so hear I am .

....so called Green Gate because my Dear Husband did not want me to call it Blue Bucket.
When we moved here some 20 years ago no one could find our house so I put a blue bucket on the fence post out front next to the drive. He installed a green gate and suggested that would be a better name

56 degrees yesterday
Took a walk around and things are coming up almost a month early.

It is hard not to start spring cleaning but I know better
Taking nice long walks instead

An all day rain yesterday dumped over 3 inches of rain
this mornings walk around went squish

sat the water tank up to collect some spring rains

64 today and R. iris blooming
the fish went outside into water collection tanks


Checked the herb bed and most all the perennial herbs are showing

2'' of rain on the 3rd that turned to snow by days end
could not all soak in so ponding a lot of places
Did some shed clean up yesterday and made more lists of what needs to be done in the garden for clean up

Today:
things always progress slower than I wish
However it was a beautiful day near 70 almost too hot
Planted some seeds in pots, cleaned up a few perennial areas , burnt the small brush pile.
saw my first bumblebee of the season really working over the iris.

Winter
yesterday I woke to two inches of fresh snow not predicted
and only 14 degrees
this morning only 12 degrees
REALLY ...spring is suppose to arrive tomorrow

First day of spring
Breezy above freezing this afternoon
Looks like the fish survived two days of below freezing temps with thick ice .
A couple plants in the greenhouse did not (I should have known better than to put them out but needed room under the lights in the house.

Well spring tried to arrive this week , mostly a lot of rain , but very little sunshine
I purchased some pansies to cheer the gloom.

only a very few daffodils open and they were picked to come inside to counteract the gloom

sunny today and 60's so I have been out into the garden a lot

yesterday continued

as per spring chores:
the Christmas tree that feeds the birds all winter is now on the burn pile awaiting a dry day to celebrate spring
AND the hammock has been put in place for resting old bones on beautiful days

warmer weather has
several perennials coming up well

mornings all week were in the mid 20's so no real planting last week

A great day yesterday to be in the garden and with a couple young garden helpers I accomplished a lot
cleared several beds
filled pots for seeding
cleared the potting complex of leaves
pulled the path covers
planted pansies
cut back perennial herbs
...all in all a productive day

Don't you just love days like that!

Yes !! I do but some times my body complains the next day

Yesterday:
planted a row of market express and Mikado turnips
today:
Planted a full bed of sweet onions
added some feather meal to this bed and then pepper flakes don't need critters helping undo my work.
