I'm new to these plants and finding them a little difficult for some reason! I have 2 that are a year old, in their original pots from the garden center. Both have just finished blooming and have dropped their blooms. Now they just have stick like branches and the leaves seem so tiny! I am in Central Florida and they get full sun all day. Any ideas how to make them healthier? Do I need to repot maybe?

Do not let the soil get bone dry but expect some or all foliage to drop in the winter. My potted plants will do either but as soon as my average date of last frost is nearby, I move them outside. They then leaf out. While leafless, I try to make sure there is some soil moisture so I do not water at normal spring watering levels but rather at a "reduced" amount until I see the plants break dormancy.

Bougainvillea's can grow really big and need lots of space. You need to repot them, however, use the next size pot. I grow mine in the ground and they are very happy in zone 9 Florida.

I keep mine in pots "mini-bonsai" and if you decide to repot them, prune them at the same time. They will rebloom every time after pruning. There are a lot of videos how to keep them Small and constantly blooming in warm climate like ours.
