Hi, I am curious to know what happens if I paint my aloe vera red and blue. When I was roaming around, I found a post Can You Paint Plants: Good Or Bad? [Decor Ideas 2023] from PlantsCraze

Please verify this article and suggest me some great tips for decoring my plants. Thanks in advance.

Bad idea. How is your aloe vera going to photosynthesis or respirate? That happens through the skin of the leaves. If you paint the leaves the plant will die.

I really appreciate @Lucy68 for your reply.

In the post, it was said that partial coloring with non-toxic paints is fine for an aesthetic look, and since new growth will arrive sooner, the plant will adopt continuous growth in the growing seasons. So as a succulent, aloe vera can thrive till then with minimal risk of dying.

It sounds like they're justifying it by saying, "It only hurts the plants a little"
Why hurt them at all?
Will acrylic paint stick to aloe ? I fear it would be blotchy at best. Not aesthetic.
Why don't you stick to painting pots and not risk hurting plants?
Plant it and they will come.

It sounds like you had made up your mind before you asked the question.

Yeah somewhere I wanted to give it a try myself instead of buying the painted ones from the market. However, now I think I better go with pot painting. Yeah! That might be for the best.
Thank you for the response

thanks for finding that post.
IMHO, (as someone who's written web articles) it's just another of the multitudes of web articles with little real information.
If the author really 'works for the welfare of plants' and 'loves to share her knowledge' I ask her to paint some plants and report back. As is, it's a collection of bits of info and guesses - except about paintng the pots, and the most analytical part is the shipping dates on types of paint (how can one possibly state that with authority?)
Says this in a blue highlighted box
Moreover, better to go with painting the pots as the paint adheres quite nicely to terracotta and ceramic pots and is safer.
then goes on to tell more about painting plants. Thumbs down Sticking tongue out
Plant it and they will come.

There are some interesting discussions about painted plants on this site, and how colorful plants can be. Some plants can be wildly colorful without any artificial enhancements.
