Hi all, yesterday I went out and took photos, because the light was "funny" and interesting, the plants were just "glowing" - or as I say "popping" The first photo is of my window boxes that sadly I placed in the hot sun without warning to them...didn't fare so well, but the semp bed in the back round looks good huh! haha In no particular order, photos of different semps in the bed.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys! Denice its funny the second photo with the red and green look, that semp is from your mom! One of the ones I was going kookoo over, while you were so patiently telling us to "hurry up now!" ![]() Spring it looks more yellow in person, its part of 'Carnival' which I got from Perennial Obsessions, so as it grows I'll let you know if it stays the same color, I'm assuming it'll change as it grows. Yeah, don't ya like semps and lettuce! I thought I'd fool some of you into thinking I had some "Odd" looking semps! ![]() |

You see why my building manager is happy he said OK to me for taking over the beds! ![]() All of you have inspired me to be "obsessed" with these little plants! It helps that Seattle and the Pacific Northwest are great areas to grow them in! ![]() |

Greg, I too triggered on the "albino" semp in the 4th picture. There was a reported case of an albino semp decades ago that did not survive long enough to reproduce, so a true albino would be a great rarity. Even if a yellow one, it is so light in color that it is a great find. Please take care of it and give extra attention. It would be a valuable addition to the hobby. One of the reasons that S. Gazelle appears on my "favorites" list is that during the spring, its younger plants go to a white or pale yellow color for about a month. It is a truly remarkable display. |

Thanks all!! Twit, noted! Its why I chose this particular one, 'Carnival' it is one of the ones I picked out at Perennial Obsessions during our tour there!! Now I'm thinking I may take it off the mom, and move it into a protected place - not a prison, more like a witness protection program, I'll have to change its name! ![]() Hi Jackie! How is everything!! Are you getting ready to move??? Good seeing you on here! ![]() ![]() |

goldfinch4 said: Your window box looks good to me. Yes, the way you described the boxes, Greg, I thought they would be more "toasty" but all looks very good to me too! I had to scroll down twice within the photo screen of 4th pic to see the albino. Did not notice the first two times of looking at pics... |

Jennifer, yes I was talking to you!!! How are things in your neck of the woods?? How did your winter sowing go?? Do you have tons of plants to plant out? Do you only grow ornamentals, or food plants too?? Is your weather "odd" also?? Cheers! |
jvdubb May 30, 2013 5:41 PM CST |
Michigan has had odd weather. But still much success with my winter sowing. Too much in fact! I have been busy making beds to plant all of it. Still I will have much I cannot fit. I hope I can find enough takers for my leftovers. I only grow ornamentals, save for two tomato plants. My husband works for a produce co so I don't waste my precious space on food ![]() |
