I have noticed a lot of the pictures of 'Coral Bells' with pine straw under them.Is that the best mulch to use?? They aren't drought tolerant & can't take a lot of sun correct? The sun here in the south can be really unforgiving! Any advice is greatly welcome.

Do 'Hosta' make a good companion plant for 'Coral Bells'??
A green thumb comes only as a result of the mistakes you make while learning to see things from the plants point of view!!

I second Midnight Rose. My plants seem to do better if they get morning sun but by noon shade. I do not use straw I only use leaf mulch from my trees the from the Fall. I need a lot of soil amendment because of my clay soil.

They are not drought tolerant they like it moist.

Midnight Rose . I would try to keep it in morning sun only. Do not mulch close to crown , crown rot can be a problem. They need very good drainage and do not like wet feet.
