I stopped by HD last night and they had a few Colocasia. The first time I've seen them at a big box store up here!! One was White Lava in a Viva pot. Brand new introduction by John Cho.

I wish I could find some info. on it. The pot says 5' x 5' which helps. Here's a link to the Viva site with a pic of a more mature plant.

Just visited the HD site and no mention of it. Has anyone heard of Winchester Gardens 1 lb. Elephant Ear Water-Soluble Fertilizer?

Crazy! Never seen that before, I wish there was a bit more info, 1-5-1 ratio is what I use too, it's great but micro and macro nutes are really a bug deal with these guys, and I like to add silica too.
It seems to help them hold up to wind whipping damage, with out extra silica, my EE that get wind whipped bad will start to make stumpy stout petioles to defend themselves, I don't like the way it makes colocasia look! Alocasia seem much less concerned but still don't mind extra silica, IMO...

It says it comes with a 15 gram spoon, assuming 15g makes one gallon, it wouldn't be a bad deal at $12 a pound, I may try a bag and see what it's like...

Thanks for the heads up!

HD site never lists their plants properly, and good luck calling them to see what they have, inept employees and what not... No worse than their completion tho...
Thumbs down

Sway, in what form is the silica you add? This is new to me.
