People give me thumbs up for posts sometimes but when I try to give thrumbs up it never works for me. Nothing happens when I hit the green thumb. The count never goes up. ![]() |

I hate to even mention this, but I had XP and when it crashed, my computer guy told me he would not put XP in the new machine because after one of the months, if I remember it was April, XP support was going to be non existent. I had no alternative but to go with Windows 7 and that is pretty close to XP and most of your XP stuff works with it. He said I would not be happy with Windows 8. I have used Firefox for years and love it. IE gave me so much trouble I found it much easier to use Firefox. This is just my comments from experience for what it is worth. You need to do what you are comfortable with. I am 84 and I am very comfortable with Windows 7 now and Firefox and I was an XP person for many years. AND, i do not do change very well. ![]() |

Uh, oh. Rita, are you using Internet Explorer? When you click on the thumb, it should turn black and the number in quotes next to it should go up. Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |

Sorry, but I will just have to live without the thumbs up because I am not going to change my browser. |

You're using Internet Explorer aren't you? A lot of things on this site don't work with IE including the thumbs up. wildflowersoftexas.com texasnatureonline.com |

Internet Explorer hates ATP.....or is it vice versa? ![]() Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid. |
Rita, using IE is a bad idea for numerous reasons. You may not want to switch but eventually you will find the WWW is pretty much worthless without changing. IE is ancient and most people on the net have already abandoned it. Check this out: http://blogs.computerworld.com... |

Dave, I went and read your link. Then I Googled How to use Google Chrome. I have no idea what all those directions are for. I would never use any of them. I am afraid I am not very computer savey. My operating system is XP and I find the new Windows ones much too confusing. |

I like the 'thumbs' notifications. I'd never noticed that I had a bunch of 'thumbs' received....lol.. I could be wrong... and..... "maybe I should have kept my mouth shut....." The Urge for Seeds is Strong in This One..... |

I was really a mess when I thought I had to make all the changes and fortunately my computer guy has known me for many years and he works with me and my computer ignorance. I have learned by doing and the one book Windows 7 for Dummies is helpful. The terminology is what throws me since I have no idea what they mean half the time. I have the same problem with my smart phone. God, I think I have lived too long since all this new stuff is coming out and so many changes. Believe me I know how you feel Rita. ![]() |

Just be glad you missed out on Vista! Eeeeek! Windows 7 is very easy to get accustomed to if you're used to XP, although I still have a little trouble finding things in the Control Panel. And Firefox as well is an easy switch. I don't know anything about Chrome, tho. Hmmm, JB, I'm still running XP on my old computer upstairs. Sounds like I may be in trouble.......
