I highly recommend not having a regular pest control company. They like to do a lot of regular chemical spraying, your chemical exposure can be worse than the pests!
What sort of pests are you dealing with? It's important to ID them first, then use a very targeted and least-toxic treatment.
I've used a commercial company on occasion, but have found that I can deal with most pests myself.
I did have a pro come get rid of a yellowjacket nest for me, that was well worth it!
