This is Geranium phaeum Springtime

The flowers are nothing special, but the leaves are gorgeous

Well, lets pop some of these threads up! I bought this last spring and accidentally lost the 4" pot in the garden before getting it planted and it dried out. My Mom bought one at the same time so I recently got to admire those pretty leaves.

Wow! Those are gorgeous!! Some of mine have the reddish marks on them, but most of them don't. I really like the look of those!!

My Mom's is planted in sun, is yours mostly in shade? Wonder if the amount of light/sun makes a difference for bringing out the markings.

Mine is in mostly shade. The only sun it gets is late afternoon. Maybe that is what makes a difference. I used to have a G. phaeum Samobor, and that had the dark markings on the leaves, similar to your picture, but didn't have the lighter at the center of the leaves. Unfortunately the Samobor only lasted for a couple of years then disappeared. The Springtime has been coming back for 5 or 6 years now, and is slowly increasing in size!

That's probably it then, the amount of sun. It looks so delicate that one would want to keep it in mostly shade I would think.

Hi folks: I have been jumping around reading different forums and ran across this one on geraniums. I would like to know if you think this geranium is Samobor? I had both of them many years ago and thought I lost both of them. I will look again and see if the other one is still alive. What do you think?

I am not familiar with Samobor but looking at other online images, it sure looks like it. Very pretty!

It does look like Samobor. I had one for years, but it didn't come back last spring.

Thanks folks. Mine was around for a few years and I thought I lost it last year. Only a small piece left hidden beneath some other perennials and it did not get very much sun so I moved it to a new location. This is what it looks like this year.

I have somobor , but mine lacks the light color in the middle ,it has the dark and the flower looks like yours.

Will try to send photo another day , my net is a mess and will not let me send tonight.

Hi Cinda: Mine is not in shade, it gets mostly morning and protected afternoon sun. I thought I had another one someone in my gardens, did not get a chance to look for it. Many many plants in that part of the garden. If I do find it, I will post it. Would love to have more and some springtime if anyone has some to trade. I have many things to trade.
