Just hoping the world can avoid getting worse this next year. Thank you all for your condolences and sympathy. I'm with my kitties, trying to keep them calm as it sounds like war has come to our neighborhood. Such sweeties they are!

My 2024 is starting off with worries. And it'll be an election year. And it doesn't seem the wars will end anytime soon. So I'm grumpy for new years eve. Sorry.
Plant it and they will come.

We didn't have much noise last but what there was freaked Oso out - three or four times. He tried to climb on top of me, scared. My sleep was inturrupted each tiome so I'm grumpy today. Searching ads for something that might help to mitigate leg pain as it's killing me, Hope I sleep better tonight. I hate it when it's messed up.

No grumps for me today, but I'm sure I'll get some along the line someplace. Nice to know I have a venting place!

nature keeps amazing me
ditto and I have lots to be crabby about but I'll get it under control. If I can't that's when I get grumpy. If there's something I can fix and I don't tend to it I'm just being lazy. Then there are those issues I have no choice in and I don't have the ability to do anything about. Those are the things that make me "grumpy".

I just got up and I'm tired and in pain. I need a full body compression suit. It's frustrating - if I stay at the computer or in bed I'm OK but as soon as I decide I'm fine to do something that reuires me to stand up I'm totally distracted by the pain in my legs. I'm ett ing lotf of ads on Facebook telling me they have the answer!!

In short, I'm at my usual level of grump. Maybe coffee will help. If not, it should at least help to wake me up,

On the news is another school shooting.

I'm going to refine my grump: when at my computer or in bed I often feel fine. But if I get up to walk to the kitchen for coffee- as I just did - I feel like the oldest of old ladies. And grumpy.

Grumpy cause my new job gave me completely different days and hours than what I signed for. I wasn't originally supposed to get up at 5am. I'm not a morning person. 5am for work is going to have me regularly grumpy. I also don't know when my shifts end. First I was told 12.5 hrs long. Then I was told they'd end at 2:15pm. Which one is it.

Microsoft Word is strange. The spelling dictionary is available in different languages, but it seems to default to guessing the language you want based on the last thing you typed. For example, I typed
Brian Eno | Reflections (2017).
Reflections was underlined as mis-spelled and the Spanish version of the word was suggested. Word just looked at the name Eno, assumed it was Spanish, and that any text that followed would be Spanish. Same sort of thing happened when I listed an album by Al DiMeola.

To fix I had to go to the Review Menu and tell Word explicitly that I wanted to use the English language dictionary in this document.

This was not a problem with the old you-buy-the-whole-thing version of Microsoft Office. It didn't show up until Microsoft forced a lease model with Office 365.

I get grumpy when my son doesn't reply to my text messages since they're usually important.

Yesterday while tackling some much-needed organization I found a knee brace. My right knee has been bothersome lately so I put it where I would surely not lose it. Right!! Well, maybe the dogs took it outside; I'll look there next, sore knee and all. I wouldn't be so grumpy if I hadn't just found it. AAAAARRGGGGGGGG.

I do that too...lose something, then right after I find it lose it again. Of course, that might be mainly because of ADD, but it sure is getting bad. I asked for cremation, then they set up the rest at the military post. The post scheduled it but it is now on a day my grandson can't be there. Don't know what to do.

I found the brace. I left in where I would be sure to find it - on the side of my bed!!
That's kind of the way my life seems to be going: no big problems but the aches and pains keep escalating. However, I'm still above ground and mobile so I try to minimize my grumping. lol.

Grumpy because I have gone into my annual blue funk. All the Christmas lights and excitement have gone down, there has not been any sunshine to speak of for weeks now, cannot go out in the garden and am generally bored. Now, I am counting down the days to the Chinese New Year celebrations. There is a lot of life and color involved there. Hope my TV stations are televising some of these celebrations. They are always enjoyable.

I bought an Epson printer off a shopping channel with the offer of Β£15 cash back when I registered the guarantee on-line. Which I did.
They sent me an acknowledgement with a ridiculously complicated user-name and a similar password, so I could log in and follow my claim.
Nothing happened for two weeks, today I got an e-mail telling me I haven't provided proof of purchase.
"Click here to log in and provide a copy."

"Clicked" and logged in and got a message to say I had to change my password before proceeding. Did that changed password and attempted to log in. It wouldn't recognise new password or old one.
Found an e-mail address and tried to send a screen shot of the delivery notice on my shopping channel account, (they don't provide receipts), but the file was too big.
Wasn't going to mess about reducing the size. So just typed out the details.
When you think about it. They sent me the damn thing. Why ask me to prove they did?
I told them that it was a nonsense having to go through all this for fifteen quid and I wished I'd bought another make of printer.

Had an automated e-mail acknowledgement, with the usual.."We're very busy......
"I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like 'em myself. They're pretty bad. I grieve over them on long winter evenings." (Philip Marlowe to Vivian Rutledge).

such a pain! I remember when rebates started, you'd snail-mail something.

we have a local small franchise restaurant we like, about fifteen stores over several states. SO, still sort of small biz and local, at least, unlike some others. So we like to visit. And they offer a coupon. But when we ordered, did not apply to the lunch special. Annoying and awkward for both the staff and us. Now I ignore the coupons and just go for the food. Similar with a sandwich store 'app' - I don't bother trying to claim my instore visits for points. I consider it a form of tipping the business if I just leave their coupons unclaimed. If I use the app and get a credit that way, it works well.
I bet stores like apps because it takes some accounting out of the hands of live staff in store.
BUT I wouldn't want to 'tip' Epson.
Plant it and they will come.

I'm cold. Therefore, I'm grumpy. My Christmas cactus - which actually bloomed for Christmas - had frostbite yesterday. Hope it's still alive today.

I have only a little electric heater which doesn't do much when it's this cold. My bed has a bottom sheet warmer; maybe I'll just go back to bed and wait until it gets warmer - a month or two!!
