This will hopefully make our lawn come back. We were on a once a week watering restriction.

@Ardesia your yard definitely looks beautifully πŸ₯Ά This year

ardesia said: Well this ain't Florida, that's for sure. No snow but a good layer of black ice on the roads. No going down the windy mountain roads until it thaws.

Versus your 🌫 Florida last year:
ardesia said: This was the fog on our pond early New Years Day. TV weather folks warned it will be worse in the morning and it is supposed to hang around until 1pm. That sounds weird to me but the pond water got pretty cold during the freeze and the temp tomorrow is supposed to be around 80. It is just a strange year.

We had rain last night and this morning and wind. It seems to have moved out now. Alice it looks cold there! But it looks lovely too.

Rain last night at bedtime so Bailey refused to go out. She was very happy to go this morning lol. At least I didn't wake up to any accidents

We had a pretty sunrise here in Sebastian at 7:40 a.m. but now it's dreary and rainy.

@Ardesia, Alice where did you move to? It sure is beautiful ... looks like my kinda place! I'd love, love, love to live in the East Tn., or Western N.C. part of the country but my husband has been in Florida his entire life (well, since before he was a year old) and we are in our mid 70's now and I can't convince him to leave. Sad

I woke up to gloom and wind and heavy rain right about when your beautiful sunrise was happening, Lin.

Not quite 11am now and the heavy rain suddenly let up. Sky is brightening, but we may get a few more brief showers. The radar map shows it's nearly done here - we got about 1.5in. of rain in 3 hours. Wind is still from the south so it's warm outside, a nice 70deg. but once the front is past, it will probably cool off a lot.

Elaine, We've only had light showers off and on this morning and I'm hoping it will continue for a few hours because it's been very dry here and we need the rain.

Almost sunny here now, but there's a pretty good line of rain coming towards you, Lin. I think you'll happily get some good rain before this front passes you.

We got a lot of rain and it just now stopped! I am happy and so are some of my desert roses that will also get the direct sun.

Although cold weather is not a friend of my garden collection, I am constantly checking for "stem rots", which seems to kill a big adenium overnight!

Yep, it's been raining for about an hour, not hard but a nice steady rain and looking at the radar, there may be a little more before it clears the southern part of the state. The dogs aren't happy because they don't like to go out in the rain but the plants sure are enjoying it! Thumbs up

Thanks Lin, we moved to Flat Rock, NC which is a tiny, quaint community about midway between Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC. We are closer to one of our sons who lives in Asheville. It really is beautiful here, we have about 8/10 of an acre but the community does all the landscaping and so far they have done a good job. I can still do my own planting when I figure out what is here already. All is dormant now. Pretty as it is, it is COLD and we hate cold but it is nice having family nearby.

We were impressed by that park in the middle of Greenville along the river. It seems like a city that's really worked hard to prosper. And Greer is a little town with some renewal- money from the BMW plant and spinoffs.
Plant it and they will come.

Alice, it sounds heavenly ... I love that part of the country but I'd have to buy a whole new wardrobe if we ever moved north. In the not too distant future we may downsize to a single story home on a flat lot. I'm always looking at real estate in the area but just haven't found anything yet. I'll be turning 76 in two months and I've had a couple of falls over the past few years and we know that this place is getting to be too much for us to handle. The most recent fall I had was the week before Christmas. Our house was built in the 1980's when sunken rooms were very popular and when we had some renovations done in 2017, we thought about having the floor leveled but changed our minds and now we are wishing we'd had it done! There are 2 steps down into the family room, the tile flooring is like stone and I'm not sure how it happened but I tripped and face-planted onto the edge of one of the steps and banged myself up pretty good. I am just thankful I only had a badly bruised knee, a fat lip and a scrape on my wrist because I could have been seriously injured.

Lin we have a sunken living room too. Also from the 80's. 3 steps down, on tile. There are handrails, but, its still dangerous for older folks. I don't know anyone else here who still has a sunken room LOL. It truly is a thing of the past

Our last home in Daytona Beach was built in the 80's and also had a sunken family room but there was wrought iron railing separating it from the dining room at the upper level, so it was easy to hold onto the railing to step down. This house could sure use a handrail!

Thanks Gigi for the new thread, it has turned out to be a pretty day after starting out so gloomy, sun peeping in and out and breezy.

Oh dear Lin, my best friend has one of those sunken living rooms, I've seen more people when we're over there step down and almost fall, guess they weren't such a good idea.

Alice, that really looks cold but still pretty. My eldest son and wife were thinking of moving to that area, now they're in N. Arkansas looking at property, they woke up to a light snowfall this morning, maybe heading your way?

We are looking at remodeling bathrooms. My husband's needs a bathtub to low step shower conversion. Mine already has it and so does one other bathroom, but his needs to be done. I can't get in and out of my 'garden' tub anymore since I had my Achilles tendon reconstructed....we plan to remove the tub in my bathroom, redo the shower and just tile the floor where the tub used to be so I can put PLANTS there LOL
