Current temp -5 it has warmed up 2 degrees from this morning
windchill-32 when I went out to feed the birds
just over an inch of snow on the ground

while outside gardening has not started yet my paper plans have
I have a long over due project list
vegetable garden list
and seed starting list
Today: some seed sorting
not sure if I will wintersow or not certainly not today all my soil will be frozen

Finally some snow this winter
three inches of fresh snow this morning.
Still sorting seeds , I think I have a problem , may get them down to one tote.
Master gardeners Seed swap happening next Saturday, I just need to take a whole bunch and donate the rest to the local libraries seed bank .

My only gardening chore is thinking about spring. I added a Greenhouse to my shed/mancave this summer so that keeps me busy lately. It's in the 20's today but over 80 in the GH. Gonna get hot in the summer.

I have a small hobby greenhouse and it is great to slip inside on a cold snowy winter day and feel the 80's.

Will you be using your greenhouse to start seeds?

No i have much grander plans [i'm a dreamer]. Tropical plants and an indoor pond with tropical fish. Tree frogs and anole and gecko lizards free ranging the GH. Work in progress but looks pretty good so far. Here's some pics.

Thank you for the kind comments Jill. Can't believe my own shadow would photobomb my GH pic. Amazes me how it's 30 degrees out and it's 80 in the GH [on a sunny day].

What a beautiful inviting greenhouse
I would be spending many winter hours in there.
Once upon a time many years ago I designed a greenhouse very much like yours but it also had perches for ring-necked parakeets and a peacock chair for me
...alas time moved on and other things became more important

That sounds absolutely wonderful. If it's not too expensive to heat i'll be there most of the winter. I'd be afraid to put birds in there they might fly into the glass. Always loved Peacock chairs but i'm almost out of room already need a smaller chair.

Ordered some jicama and no heat habanero peppers today, need to get them started early.
both new to me this year

Ordered some micro dwarf tomato seeds , also a new venture for me
I hope to have some plants to grow inside under lights next winter.

Maybe he was right It was 60 yesterday even with clouds and wind.

I've started a few seeds this week and my counter is a mess.
feeling very frustrated over how long it takes the special seed medium to soak up water ....and when it does it seems not to be evenly distributed.

The micro dwarfs

It's been crazy. I've been walking around outside without a jacket in February. How small are micro dwarfs? Is the whole plant small or just the tomatoes?

The plants are suppose to stay 12-18'' and can be grown in small pots under lights in the winter
...at least that is what I have read we will see

Only 15 this morning
a nice blanket of snow slowly came down all yesterday about 4'' total.

Found the first of the tomato seeds have germinated...must have been yesterday , they look a bit leggy , I put them under lights hope they will do Ok till I can transplant them a bit deeper .
Could kick myself for not catching them yesterday
