The rain dropped almost 2'' Saturday, and the temps dropped only 50 this morning
something is picking my green /almost ripe tomatoes and not eating them just chewing them up ......making me very angry.
(I suspect the chipmunk I have been seeing )

Things are keeping watered but the humidity is bad and the temps in the high 80's keeping me inside a lot .

This year I have two small tomato plants in the garden



the red pear was a gift from my sister , but the yellow grape was a miss- label

I am not pleased to share my blackberries with these nasty beetles
Makes the berries very unappealing.

The tall snow on the mt. seems to be pulling the pot garden together
they randomly come up in the pots and I leave a few when weeding.

I like this two tone cosmos , will have to save the seeds from this one.

and the straw flowers are almost 4 foot tall.
Must have planted a different type usually only a foot or so.

I have been a miss at posting the garden this year
It is in the process of fall cleanup /early
Both August and September have been hot and very dry
We are in a drought so many of the pots have already been dumped , because I am tired of watering .

Cinda, I feel your pain. Sometimes it's best to cut bait and move on. Last year was record-breaking hot and dry here — by early September I'd ripped out all my tomatoes and many other seasonals. Not only tired of watering, but water is expensive, and spider mites had moved in. It was the most discouraging gardening season I've ever experienced.

All bad things pass, I guess. We got heavy, early monsoon rains this year and it hasn't been nearly as hot. Just start planning for better times next year

My vegetable garden was the worst ever this year, with several days of 100°, which has never before gotten that hot here, and plenty of yellowjackets too!

Evelyn, because I have family and friends in California, I still pay attention to the weather there. Can't believe the heat you're getting!

I was surprised as in the 30+ years I have lived-in this high-foothill area of northern California, it has never been this hot before. When I first moved to this area, 80° was the hottest it got. Of course, the first winter here, it was a low of 5°! That was a record, too. We do get snow here every winter.

I am very thankful not to have to pay for water , we have a very good well ,or I would not have the garden I have.

We are also fortunate to have a good well.

What was left of Helene was only 3 days of misty gloom a total of less than half inch of rain.
However the gloomy days had the morning glories open all day and the shrooms popping

Still no rain here but it has cooled down 80 degrees 3 days ago and a frost/freeze warning out for tonight

Picked purple asters and pink zinnias for the house
House plants found homes under lights , inside

Now for some serious clean up and the garden will be ready for winter .

The most unusual weather has some of the garden still in flower and I picked a ripe tomato off a forgotten vine yesterday.
No rain in October except a few sprinkles on the 31st ...and much warmer weather in the 80's several times, almost August weather .
Snow last week(4'') melted off immediately , we have not had a hard freeze enough to kill things yet .

A lot of that strange weather going around. A vine ripe tomato in zone 5. Wow!

I second that motion, Wow! I sure wish I had one to pick off and eat. You go girl.
