Hi Folks,
Happy Friday. I hope your day is going well.
I heard someone say they soak some of this product in water for about 30 minutes before they use the water to water their plants to prevent mosquitos and gnats etc. Do we really need this stuff? what if my plants grow in water and I change water every 2 weeks? Thank you.

You would only need this if you grow your plants outside in a state that is heavily infested with mosquitoes. Not if you are growing houseplants. Gnats are attracted to wet SOIL not water itself

Fungus Gnats are usually a sign of overly wet soil and although I hear people recommending those mosquito bits all the time, in my opinion, allowing longer drying intervals will prevent the issue in the first place. The adult gnats only live a couple of weeks but they lay eggs in the uppermost layer of moist soil and the larvae feed on organic matter in the soil before emerging in the flying adult stage and if the soil doesn't have enough time to dry a few inches down, the cycle will continue.

I would change the water weekly to avoid the risk of mosquito larvae maturing into adult mosquitoes. It's easy to see if there are any larvae in a vessel of water. It's very satisfying to kill those things.
The golden rule: Do to others only that which you would have done to you.
