It is the very beginning of a new gardening season here with things waking up first in the woodland garden Bees are buzzing about the hellebores

I hired some guys to haul mulch up my giant hill yesterday. It looks and smells so nice.





You can see from this pic from the bedroom window the steps going up on the left. That was some serious labor!

Such a lovely garden! How long have the hellebores been in - they appear to have a nice spreading habit. Would you consider them slow growers? They are supposedly deer resistant! Would like to add some of them to my garden too. Nice photos!!

Thanks Jan. The hellebores have been there for quite a few years. They take some time to mature (3 to 5 years) and are definitely deer resistant. I have a fair bit of deer traffic back there and they have never touched the hellebores.

It is beginning to feel like spring!

Things are looking cheerier as I walk up my front steps with the Goldmound Spirea leafing out.

Two years ago we removed a large spruce. This year the garden I have been working on in its footprint is really going to pop. Mostly going for really bright colors. The salvia is already making a statement

You must be into summer blooms by now.

It has been cool and rainy most of the week so it doesn't feel like summer bloom time yet.
Rhododendrons are doing just fine.
