This can be seen as a bit late or early enough to digest before the holiday rush. This is an article by Susan Harkins and Paula Mullins and published by The Kentucky Native Plant Society. Good on it's own. I'm hoping it sparks some additional discussion, updating, etc. Most of us have had similar discussions in various threads. Why not another? Anyway, enjoy...

All and any of the mentioned. my neighbor loves to garden but is sometimes a bit clueless. A set of her own pruners [like mine] would be just the thing for her Christmas stocking because she's always borrowing mine.

They are all great ideas! They said your friend will always remember your gift of bringing compost that you help to spread. No doubt. I bought it, but a few friends did help me spread a whole dump truck of mulch once and I definitely still remember, 25 yrs later.

A hose is definitely a great gift too. The one I want is $300. Somebody put me down for that! LOL!

I thought it was kind of weird that there was a pic of a mask for sale, but the article is from 2020. Other than that, I thought the info was fresh!

I need a dump truck load of mulch and a load of compost for out here. At least one each, maybe 2. If I wasn't trying to get my boat going for the first time in almost 20 years (was a gift to me last year, different states, different paperwork and now trailer and boat work) I would ask for that stuff but I'll stick with small stuff. I do have a good source for bulk mulch and now a source for bulk compost since we don't like our next door neighbors who have goats. I may make my dad go talk to him anyways. They burn their pile while I would make a couple bins out of pallets and let them break down. Thinking

About time to start making our lists. I would put pots @ the top of mine. What's on yours?

Bigger shed to hold my stuff and my stuff only. Right now I'm limited on space in my shed due to other stuff being in there and there's nowhere else to put them.

Nail brushes, more garden knives, mild winter ( nodding ), long handles for replacing all of the handles I broke this year, ... I'll think of more and post again...

I prefer garden knives (hori hori) over trowels as they are more efficient, more precise, and have many more uses. I like the ones with poly handles that have a widened finger guard to prevent one from slipping forward... Especially on heavier work.

I thought it might be good so I took a couple of pics about an hour or so ago. This is a garden knife next to a watering wand head for scale...

I have 2 different ones like that and I love them. The best part is digging just to plant something quick and there's a root in the way... the serrated edge lets you cut right through it instead of having to get another tool. And a watering wand like that with various sprayers and an articulating head is a must for me too.

Mine has etched ruler markings so you can see how deep you are and I also like the serrated edge for cutting roots you may encounter. A very useful tool!

Me either. I've only bought about 3 tool ever. Everything else was inherited or garage sale finds. Gotta save that $ for plants.
