I am growing rosemary from seed. I plan on growing it in a container just curious if this works well or should it be planted in the ground? like what is the success rate growing it in containers? Thinking

That could depend on the variety of rosemary. The large shrubs won't do as well in containers long-term, but there are dwarf varieties. Here's a 2-minute video that describes three small ones:

However, the MOST important factor is your potting medium. Peat-based water-retentive mixes will kill your rosemary in record time. They hate wet feet. Find or blend a gritty mix that drains freely.

After growing rosemary in a raised planter box for well over 20 years we were absolutely shocked last year to have seedlings pop-up in a number of containers I'd put in the shade of the plants. They're doing great! Both bushes have flowered and set seed every year they've been there, last year was the first time for volunteers to show.
BTW, there's a local seed company that sells rosemary seeds with a "good luck" warning on the back of the package since it seems to have a rather poor germination rate! Did you get any to germinate?
Cheers,
Pieter
