Please tell me I'll love it. We wanted to find something easy, direct flight from home, not to complicated planning. We're staying in the historic district. We like walking and exploring. We may book a walking tour, or riverboat cruise, or go kayaking, visit Tybee Island to see the beach once.
Any tips/suggestions you'd like to share? Places to eat you love or avoid?
Plant it and they will come.

Sounds great!
After the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", there should be crazy amounts of garden tours, mansion tours... and the like.
Just downloaded book... Can't believe I haven't read it yet...

I just did a search for "savanah ga garden books"...
Yeah, you should not lack for options...

Maybe go hang out on River Street...

Edit:
Just reread thread title...
Weekend?
Should be for like weeks (several).

Shrimp have been the news...
we even have a state crustacean.

We stayed right in town on River Street- Hilton./Hampton or whichever in that family.
Favorite dinner- "b matthews"
Lots of good breakfast options.
River St by the riverfront of course is classic touristy. One dinner experience there was so bad it was funny, the other was very good. I left reviews on Yelp.
Sunset cruise was fun.
Beach is nice and an easy drive from town- make sure you set up the parking app AND enter EVERY number and letter on your plate.
Parking in town is expensive/hassle.. prepare to use garages, walk a lot, or maybe use valet. also $$. But if I recall- weekend parking is free, or maybe all day Sunday is.
Plant it and they will come.
