I purchased a gaura yesterday to replace one that I lost because I planted it in a horrible spot with way too much shade. I'd like to plant the new one in a large, deep container that will receive full sun. I have no idea what the cultivar is. It had no tag on it, but the nursery owner said it was either pink, or pink and white. Doesn't really matter, as I'll love it no matter what. The others I've purchased there have done fantastic.

I have a large bag of organic Miracle Grow potting mix for the container, but I feel like it might need something mixed in, as to keep it from holding too much water. I also have a huge bag of perlite. Would the perlite be good to add in? If it is, can anyone suggest a ratio of perlite to potting soil? I use that mix with semps in my pot ghetto, and they've done really well, but I don't know enough about gaura to even make a guess. I've grown it for many years, but always in the ground.

Thanks for any advice!
