Hello All,
New UK member, Peter, here. I have been following this forum since I started with semps some 3 years ago, and have learned so much. Thank you!
I have a question - What has happened to Saxon? (I have one on order). I have read all that I can find on here, and the trail seems to have gone cold about 3 years ago. I am wondering if they usually revert to "type", as previously discussed on here? (I once bought some nice yellow and brown Rudbeckia that did that!) Hope you can help, Best Regards,

Peter 😀

Welcome to the forum! I do not have Saxon anymore, as I lost it when I moved. When I did have it, I did not have issues with it reverting

Thank you Nathaniel and Paleo. You can find comments on this, and a photo, from Melissa and Lynn, on the thread "Saxon - does anyone know where to find in US?" There are a good number of stunning photos of Saxon on the plants database. (As you can probably see my IT skills are somewhat limited!)
Strangely, this thread doesn't appear when I search the Database for "sempervivum saxon". It's probably me! Thanks again.

Would you believe that there is a "nursery" trying to sell one on Etsy UK for £50!!!! I paid £7 from a well known UK supplier. Worrying, isn't it?

I am so sorry Peter, not sure how I missed this thread the beginning of June. It is very nice to meet you and so glad you joined the group. I also look forward to seeing photos of your semps.

I grew 'Saxon' for sometime. When I moved I did not take it with me. It was to tempermental and difficulte to keep healthy in my PNW conditions. It was beautiful when healthy. I think Perennial Obsessions might have it.
I'm still away from home traveling so communicating on my phone. I'm not very good at it.

Thank you Lynn. My Saxon is now potted in 50% grit/perlite, 25% topsoil, and 25% peat free compost. It arrived a mix of light green and creamy white, and is now developing a slight pink tinge. (similar to a photo in database) I think the "stunning" colours should be in Autumn.

I do understand your telephone difficulties. I have recently made a quantum leap from an ancient cheap "pay-as you go" basic phone to a very posh Apple XS i phone. Whilst I do like it, it blows my brains out regularly. I am awaiting further coaching from my wonderful grand-daughter who is in Spain at the moment. I will post a photo when my skills have improved!!

Tell your granddaughter I said hi, and thank her for helping you learn to use your new phone. I do have an I-phone, and I do love it. Just don't like to try to navigate a website with it. Rolling my eyes.
My best color time for 'Saxon' came in the spring. I never quite accomplished amazing color.

Thanks Lynn, if my Saxon achieves those colours, I will be very happy.

Yes, it's the same website/photo problem for me - and slightly "pudgy" fingers - but I will get there!

My word, I am "cooking on gas now", but will I remember tomorrow?

At first, after repotting, I was worried that it might be thinking about flowering (a disaster), but now I'm hoping it's just etiolation from the journey(s).

Peter, good photo. It sure does look like it is going to bloom. Is that the only one you have?

Yes, supplied online without any offsets. It might be £7 wasted. Sighing! . I will photo it again, if and when it develops.

Try saving the seed and plant it next January. It might be interesting to see what they might produce.

That's a good plan Lynn. Thank you. January is the middle of our UK winter. Would that be too soon? I don't have a greenhouse or cold frame. I do, however, have a porch, which would offer some protection. Is there a recommended temperature range for sowing semp seeds?

I also have a few others flowering at the moment, including two Heuffs (which are together in the same pot). I will do the same.
