Everyone here is growing "brown" grass! Maybe the rain will green it up a bit!

We actually got a pretty good rain yesterday. It is still too wet to work outside today.

Has anyone tried staining concrete? Specifically the 12" patio blocks. I want to create a small stepping stone walkway with them, but the standard plain gray concrete color is too light, and stands out too much against the mulch. I'm thinking about staining them darker, like a dark brown or charcoal.

We got some nice rain last night and today. VERY nice weather!

I'm hoping we'll get some fall color this year before the trees are bare. Every day I'm having to clean brown fallen leaves off the driveway. A lot of the trees are looking sparse already, dropping leaves from stress, not from seasonal change.

I think we're owed a nice fall after the crummy summer we had. Where do I register a weather complaint?

Well, I ran errands today in the pouring rain and smiled the whole time, despite getting repeatedly drenched. I didn't exactly rock the drowned rat look, but what's a bad hair day when we're getting such great rain?

Red, staining concrete is very easy. You put on the acid wash, put on the stain, voila.... we did a floor in my old home, it looked great.

You are very talented (and brave!) to do a floor. My fear is messing it up and having it look bad, but with separate blocks, I can edit out the rejects. A poured slab would be much more intimidating.

A trip to Home Depot is in order today for seed and fertilizer, so I'll check out what they have for concrete stains when I'm there. Do you remember what brand you used?

No, but I got it from HD, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

It is semi-transparent - you will see discolorations under the stain come through somewhat. I'm trying to remember, I think we applied it with a broom. Don't let it intimidate you, it really isn't a big deal.
