I'm new to this plant. I think it is a parlor plant? It was a starter and doing well so I replanted it into a container. Things have not gone well since. I used regular potting soil and it was a little wet so I let the plant sit outside for a day to get some sun and dry out a little. It now sits on my kitchen counter - gets late day sun and water once a week. It doesn't seem to be growing since transplanting (transplanted about two months ago). It does occasionally grow stick like things that go brown at the top. Can anyone help me save it and get back on track?

It looks like it got sunburned when it was put outside. Does that pot have a drain hole? The soil looks like mostly peat. I'm not sure it would dry much in a week.

It looks like about 8-10 seedlings in that pot that are too close to each other. If it was mine, I would unpot, separate the seedlings from each other, and probably put them back in that same pot but with more space between each one. That looks like a fine size pot for that group of seedlings if they were farther apart.

They're pretty tough, you won't hurt them if you exercise patience. The roots should still be small on such young plants. Agree that it looks like a parlor palm.

But it could be a cat palm. They're so similar and both easily found @ stores. Care is the same for both.
