I tried to post this plant this morning but couldn't get my blog to work so I asked Dave to get rid of the whole thing.
But I thought folks may be interested in my Gout Plant. It is blooming. It is 2 summers old, maybe 3.
this plant is also known as Jatropja podagrica, here is the photos...
See it is blooming and I just read when it has seeds to watch the seed pods. When they turn brown the pods will burst open and make new plants...
Here is the plant

Charlene, Your posting the Jatropha has finally allowed me to have a little piece of mind as the pic. you posted is EXACtly like a plant which is growing at the moonflower vines of which you gave me some seeds. I guess one of the Jatrophas got in with the moonflowers.
Anyway, I was just thinking this morning that it looked so very much like a Jatropha but dismissed the idea as I was sure it couldn't be as I'd had not access to any seeds.
So you have solved the riddle for me and I'm looking forwards to watching it mature. I'll go out and take pic. in a few min. even though it's about 640 degrees outside!!
Will try to call you later.

Charlene, are the pics of mine the same as yours: If so, does yours have a caudex?
Sorry for the poorer quality pics than I normally take but I was in a rush to get back inside as the plants is on the South side of the yard.
Hugs, L/O.

Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea where it came from lest it was a seed that was in the moonflower seeds and I planted it with the moonflowers.
I'm excited but I don't see a caudex yet but yours is older than mine. I suppose I'll have to lift it as cold weather gets here, pot it up, and bring it inside with the orchids. Do you leave yours outside?
That's why I had called a little earlier to confirm this as I've wondered for weeks what in the world it was. Whew, I'm so relieved to finally know.
Thanks my friend,

Charlene, I see I should have posted here about the Jatropha but I posted it in the 'how to start a forum' area where you asked the question about how to do it. So, if you will, go there to see what I wrote
You said yours was about 3 yrs old and has a caudex and I looked to see if this one did but it doesn't maybe it's due to it being so young. I do hope I can dig it up as cold weather approaches as I'd like to keep it. All depends on how deep are the roots.
Love,
L/O.

Charlene,
Now, I'm really confused about the plant. I've taken some pics of the Jatropha but this one has a yellow flower which looks nothing like the shape of yours. See what you think of this in the pics.
There is no telling what Kevin has. I did send him some moonvine seed but sure didn't remember any melons. Little own a gout plant....but it does look like a vine. give it a month and see what kind of "monster" I sent you.

Thanks All, I just love a good mystery and this plant is turning out to be quite that: a mystery. Just out of absolute curiosity, I am most eager for the weeks to pass in order to see what it turns out to be.
Will keep you all informed.
Again thanks,
Lee
See, Lee, I sent you a mystery plant towonder about while my Gout plant is getting ready to open up. About 1 more day and I'll get you another picture. Hugs, Lee, my buddie....
