I got seeds from someone in India labeled as Solanum melongena aka "wild eggplant". But the plant isn't exact to any wild eggplant species such as melongena, insanum, incanum, linnaeanum. The purple spines are nothing like any of those. I'm thinking it could be a hybrid of two species. Any idea? By the way this pollinated my domestic eggplant.

Pretty!
Looks like eggplant to me....
There will be some natural variation in plants...
due to the genetic diversity of a single plant species in the wild

Could be...
I've gotten crosses when planting pepper seeds from small suppliers...

Yummmm. That is the kind of egg plant used in Thai green curry or eaten fresh with various Thai dishes.
