I think we usually start a new thread when the roots start arriving? If so, then jump on in!

I bit the bullet and got Pastelelgance from Adelman. I think some people said it doesn't grow very well? Hopefully I'm misremembering and it will thrive! I can't wait to see the color in person, I hope it's as magical as it looks online!

I also got mine from Adelman, and it grew quite well. I can assure you the flowers are super gorgeous. It also responds well to division after 4 years.

Oh excellent, thank you, I'm so excited!!

I always wondered - if you can't plant peonies where they've been before - do you have to put both halves into new holes? Or can one half go back into the hole you dug it out from?

You can put one half back into the original hole. It already has whatever pathogens were in there.
It's also a good opportunity to make sure the eyes are at the proper depth!

Oh APS already had their auction this year? I must have missed it. Any interesting tree peony offerings?

Hi Peonyplan,
The APS has two auctions a year. One is a live auction at the APS banquet, which is very fun!

The other one is the Fall online auction that was last weekend.

You must be a member to participate in the auctions.

I hope you will become a member so you can participate.

During this past APS Convention we visited several nice peony gardens. I fell in love with a peony called John Gardner.

Here is the photo of the peony

Thanks Karen and Zellycat.

My Solaris order arrived a couple of days ago. I won't open it for a couple of days and will share photos.

This was at the Convention, and I think shipping is included.

I ordered two of Don Smith's latest Itoh introductions from White Flower Farms and they came today.
I'll post pics of the roots whenever I remove them from the pots and wash the potting soil off. They were very well packed and look promising.

Toot Sweet and Evie Jane are the ones I ordered.

Thanks Karen,

Don Smith gave a lecture about his new Itoh introductions and I really never thought I would be able to obtain them this year!

Today was a nice day. It was around 60°F (15.55°C)

I had purchased 4 of Don Smith's new Itohs. 2 I won at the Convention auction, and two came from White Flower Farms. All were grown in identical one gallon black plastic pots.

Truly Scrumptious

Definitely not me as all my roots are in storage in my older daughter's garage.
Will get them when I have a house.
Moving day is Tuesday….or rather everything is going to storage.
I am staying with my younger daughter and her family over the holidays.

So you still haven't found a property yet Caroline?

Make sure you check on your stored roots from time to time. You don't want mice to get in them!
