Morning,
We are having work done on our house and I have to move my 8 hostas. Once I dig them out of the ground do I need to put them back in the ground? Or can I put the plants in pots? Any help you could provide would be helpful.

Thank you,
Chris

Now is a good time of year to divide them and move them to another location. They will be just fine. Putting them in a pot is just a waste of time and effort.

Pots, temporarily, is ok too. (Maybe you want to put them back in the same place after the work is done, and don't want to dig up another garden for them)
Plant it and they will come.

Hostas do very well in pots. You can leave them that way for years, or just temporarily. You can cut off the leaves now, plant root mass in a pot, and let it overwinter. Freezing is OK.

Easy. That's why people like them.

Welcome to the site!

Temp locate them to pots until you find their permanent position, climate is important depending if you want to keep them in pots.
