Hi and Welcome! to the site!

Your plant looks like a variety of Lupine (Lupinus) to me too. This entry in our database has lots of photos. Lupine (Lupinus)

Easy to make that mistake with a quick glance because one doesn't expect to see a lupine as a houseplant.

@Joanneft will you be keeping that pot outside? Perennial varieties require a period of winter cold for optimum performance. Are you in the UK? Outside in a protected spot will be better than indoors.

Thanks for your replies! If I were to keep it indoors, would it die? House isn't overly warm.

I don't know if it will die, but I suspect it won't be happy long term. No harm in trying!

Lupines need a period of dormancy and will survive temperatures well below freezing. If I were you, I would be putting your Lupine outside for the winter and maybe forever. You will be rewarded next spring with beautiful lupine flowers.

Welcome to the forums Joanneft.
I suspect Stockport is in UK...these forums are based in USA
Agree re lupin.
Your plant is perfectly hardy outside here in UK...it will be far happier planted in the garden.
