Hi & welcome! Are you able to add a pic? Is it in a hanging pot? So many of those hanging pots have 1 drain hole in the middle that is recessed above the bottom of the pot. That allows about 1/2" of water to hang out in the bottom of the pot, below the drain hole. If that is the type of pot it is in, you can snip or puncture a hole in the actual bottom of the pot.
Generally, from what I've seen of this plant over the decades, solid yellow oldest leaves are a sign of thirst, and leaves that turn brown @ the tip and then yellow are a sign of unhappy roots.
This is a plant that I never repot, just cut off the parts that look good enough to keep & start a fresh pot. There's not much point in preserving a bunch of old roots since new ones form so readily.
A hybrid version of that if the pot is not very full is to cut off the longest stems and stick them back in the pot for a more full look.
