I like flowering plants and want to plant outside. I live in Puerto Rico near the ocean. Not in front but get salty air and sand.
I have 3 options outside. Full sun all day, or either morning or afternoon sun.
I would like low maintenance plants that can mostly rely on GOD to water.
I would look at natural areas around you and see what flowers grow there. Being an island, your selection is likely to be more limited so as not to bring in or encourage invasives. So looking at native plants that work well in natural settings would be your best bet.
I found this website which lists plants found in PR. You can search by elevation, etc, so get an idea of what might work in your location. https://www.regionalconservati...

Heliconias. Alpinia purpurata. Jade Vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys). Etlingera elatiors (the torch gingers). I have several friends in PR and they grow all this kind of stuff

Yes, Torch Gingers are cool. I grow them.
They don't do well everywhere but Puerto Rico is perfect for them, the standard form gets tall (20+ feet)
But there are dwarf forms called Tulip Torches that top out around 9-10 ft
