Oh, I'm so sad! I really wanted the tree peony Spellbound some day but I guess that's not going to happen anymore. (I don't think anyone in the US carries it?)

I'm so surprised retiring peony growers don't sell off the whole business when they retire. It seems like some young couple would love to buy a well established business. Maybe the growers don't want to move? Maybe young growers don't have the funds? It's just so sad to see the doors close vs keep going.

Zelly, I thought they retired years ago. Spellbound is magnificent. I have wanted it for years.

I think somebody in the US has it. Hopefully somebody is multiplying it.

Island Steam peonies bought Simmons' stock. We don't know if they will ship to the US.
I agree with Anya, someone in the US is selling Spellbound. I'll keep my eyes out for it.
LG - My garden grows with love and a lot of hard work.

Spellbound was sold at one time by Song Sparrow before they retired. I have it, seems to be doing okay but I've not tried propagating yet—not enough stems to feel comfortable. I'm sure both Solaris and Adelman's have it, both purchased several varieties the few years we put in orders. I bet you'll see it available commercially in the next few years!

Halifax's website says, "shipping in Canada" so I don't think they ship to the US. Liz, that's great to hear that Solaris and Adelman purchased roots, fingers crossed!! LG and everyone please do lmk if you see it for sale in the US so Gary and I can indulge. : )

I'm glad to hear they sold off their stock; I couldn't find a website for Island Stream Peonies, just their Facebook (and shipping info wasn't readily apparent). But both Adelman and Solaris are fantastic so fingers crossed!

Solaris has Spellbound, though I recall Nate saying it was a slow grower.

I actually prefer Southern Beauty, which is just above Spellbound and is also $200.

Thanks Gary!

Oh! I wish I'd known about your comment before I bought Spellbound! Oh, well. Maybe Southern Beauty was sold out anyway. Do you have both? Why do you prefer Southern Beauty?

I am too late. I hope Solaris Farms will offer Spellbound again next year. I will have to vicariously enjoy it through your blooms, Zellycat. Thumbs up Thumbs up

And I think there was only one root of Spellbound, so don't feel bad! This was at the end of the description and when I mistakenly tried to add a second one to my cart, it refused.
