Thread OP
Arizona
I noticed last week that the stem around one of my peppers was darkening but didn't think much of it. This morning I saw the dark part had spread down the plant and I noticed the same darkening around other peppers. Is this normal? Or is it a sign of a bigger problem?

Whenever I've bought serrano peppers in the grocery stores, they looked just like that. If they are firm, and if the plants seem healthy, I would not worry. Maybe taste one and see?

Pepper stems are often dark colored. The pepper fruits are starting their transition to red. I never pick peppers until they've reached their mature color - they go through a lot of color transitions to get there.
