My quest for rodent elimination from my garden beds continues, it's no laughing matter. But these are worth a chuckle...

It does have a deserved reputaion for 'burn-out' where the variegation starts to brown later in the season. The green part of the leaf grows faster than the white edge, and bingo...

Lemon Snap, great grower, lots of changes over the season, bright red/purplish petioles that put on a nice contrast with the yellow leaves, nice fade out nearing the end of the season

'Lakeside Paisley Print' really enjoy this one, the voles had their way with it, slowly growing back

Liberty beautiful hosta, this one gets too much afternoon sun

'Love Pat' never does too much in my garden

'Luna Moth' good grower, starts out light in the spring then deepens in color

@crawgarden - LOVE 'Lemon Snap'. Probably won't acquire it as I've got quite a few nice yellow hostas already, including some seedlings, but it's very nice.

'L' hostas - I've got quite a few and more if the 'Lakeside' ones are included. So here goes - 3 posts.

First, some of the regular 'L's.

'Last Dance', June 30
Acquired in 2007, this one gets less sun that is ideal. It had spread out. I dug it, cleaned out tree roots and replanted it as a nice mound in 2020 and have been giving it annual manure or compost since. It's a Hans Hansen sport of H. 'Summer Music'.

'Lemon Frost', June 30
This enthusiastic mini was new to me in 2007 and it was clear it would be a good grower from the get-go. It makes a fantastic border as it's also easy to divide. (I do have some of the related 'Twist of Lime' at the end of that border.)
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/c07969

'Liberty', June 30
This was new to me in 2009, though it was a large plant to start with. In 2018, it was knocked back somewhat by a late April ice storm, but I've been enriching it since then and it's now looking good again. Love this one as it's such a dramatic plant.

'Limey Lisa', June 30
I received this in a 2005 trade and it did well in the garden for years. But for the last few years, it has been heaving with the frost in winter and I've experienced winter kill on some of it. After digging it in deeper or adding soil several times, I finally dug it and potted it in 2024 and it thrived. Will be looking for a new garden location for it.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/22b8a3

'Little Miss Sunshine', June 20
This was new in 2014 but found its original garden location too dark and it didn't thrive. It's been in a pot for several years and looks better, but it's another that needs a new garden location. This is an early spring picture because I had horrendous slugs in 2024 and it got decimated.

The rest of my 'L' hostas. (I'll show you the Lakeside ones in a separate post.)

'Little Red Rooster', July 25
This was a gift in 2007 from someone I met on the Dave's Garden site. It's a lovely mini with red legs.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/6817bc

'Little Sunspot', June 30
Another I had in the garden but which started to do poorly. It's also been in a pot for a few years and I'll look for a new garden location. It also got decimated by slugs in 2024. It was new in 2007.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/61f808

'Little Treasure', June 30
This was acquired in 2011 and has been grown in full sun since around 2016 when we lost a large ash tree. It has grown well with all that sun and looked good, though not quite as blue as it would be in more shade. Actually, now that a Mountain Ash volunteer we allowed to grow is getting larger, it's starting to get filtered shade.

'Lovely Leila', June 30 & July 8
This is my own seedling from 2006. At one point I knew the pod parent, but in its first winter the squirrels moved my markers around. It emerges with the centres of the leaves quite light in colour (how light varies from year to year) and they gradually darken up over the season. After about a decade, I finally gave it a name after my second granddaughter.

I've grown this since 2006 and it's doing well. I got lucky where I sited it as I've never had to move it.

Finally, the Lakeside hostas in my garden. You all know there are so many that the Hosta Library has a whole tab for them. I only have a few.

'Lakeside Cranberry Relish', Aug. 8
New in 2009, this one HAS grown more enthusiastically and I suspect it would like more sun and fewer tree roots. I dug it, cleaned out tree roots, enriched and replanted a couple of years ago; but it's still small.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/584a7e

'Lakeside Elfin Fire', July 16
This mini was new in 2007. After an ill-fated attempt to grow it as a border, I consolidated it into a mound, but in 2025, I plant to put it into a pot and see how it does.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/4f162a

'Lakeside Mom', June 30
New 2009. This is one of my favourite streaked hostas and for about a decade it was reliable streaked. Then it began to put out more and more solid green sections. So, this is now one I have to keep watch over to keep it streaked.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/8e93c2

'Lakeside Paisley Print', June 20
New 2013, this has not been a fast grower for me.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/27e6b0

'Lakeside Reflecting Glass', June 20
New 2012. Don't buy this one. (I managed to get it free in exchange for letting a nursery use some of my pictures). But it's very, very unstable, much of it going solid green each year, though I'm not sure you could call that solid green 'L Looking Glass'. At any rate, I did for awhile and then got rid of it. I had a little discussion with this one a few years ago and told it, it was on its own. No more dividing. It also goes downhill very quickly and early at the end of the season.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/2e1504

'Lakeside Shore Master', June 30
Another I've had for a long time - since 2007. I think it would grow faster if it weren't sited between my lilacs but it returns reliably.
Thumb of 2025-01-25/ViolaAnn/66d246

'Lakeside Zinger', June 30 & July 8
I like this mini which I've had since 2006. It grows low to the ground and would make a good ground cover hosta. Occasionally I get sections that are nearly white ('L. Zing Zang') but I don't think they have enough green to grow well on their own.
