These four are abundant in my backyard. Can you tell me what each one is?

Cool!

1. Looking at images online, it looks similar but not exact to either lactuca or wild rocket, but close enough it could be either (or arugula?).

2. Looking online, I think cheeseweed is the win (or at least the mallow family).

3. Storksbill looks like the win.

4. Cleavers, bedstraw - definitely in the galium family.

Thanks so much! At least knowing the family, I can decide how much to fight these vs let them be.

wild lettuce self sows vigorously if gone to seed here. I hoped birds would eat all the seed.
Plant it and they will come.

Our wild lettuce (Prickly Lettuce) has little spines down the backs of the leaves and grows tall. Rocket and Arugula are the same plant. Taste it. Some people think its peppery but to me, bitter. Either way, all edible.

A bit bitter tasting. No spines.

But I may have spiny ones out there too.

Calflora says not likely in Sacramento (its the county 2 over from the San Francisco Bay). I've never seen it before.
