I have 2 V's, but I can find pictures of only one. And I'm not sure it's as labeled... one of my V's is 'Victory' and I cannot find any pictures. The other is venusta and I'm unsure of its actual ID. I purchased this in 2018 and the main reason I chose this particular plant is that it was sporting, a twofer in other words.

The propagator is local and I regard them as knowledgeable, having bought their product in the past. My questioning the real identity of this specimen is the colour of the flowers. When it comes to species ID I invariably go the George Schmid's work and you find his details in the PDF on the HL. The petals shown on page 5 are close enough to what I see on mine to call it a wash but go to page 13 at the top and there's a somewhat different looking one. Here's mine:

My next quandary is the ID of the sport. As you see in the picture below I have it labeled as 'Kinbotan' but I don't believe that's correct as that name is given to a venusta seedling and I going on the assumption that what I have is a specie's division -not vouchered- and not a seedling. It could be 'Crater's Rim' I suppose, it's not wavy enough to be 'Wedding Band'. The variegation isn't white enough to be 'Striker'. I'm inclined to refer to it as 'Kifukurin Otome' based on the pictures I have seen, which aren't many. I have seen this one also referred to as a venusta seedling...Isn't this fun? Glare

That's it for my limited V selection....
Cheers,
Pieter

I have 1 named "V", 'Venus' and one seedling that was a gift in 2010, that along the way, I gave a vanity name 'Viola Ann'.

Venus', July 24
This, when doing well, is a medium-large plant with shiny green leaves. But I think it needs more sun than mine was getting. I've had it since 2008 and it has bloomed in the past for me, but it was getting smaller and smaller where it was. If you are lucky, it will bloom in late summer with a large double flower and it's extremely fragrant. I've not seen a successful bloom on mine in years, though it usually tries. In 2024, I dug it, divided it, potted it and put it in my back garden.

'Viola Ann', Aug. 27
In 2010, when my garden was on a bus tour of the Ontario Hosta Society, I was given this streaked hosta seedling. I have no idea of its heritage. It has grown well in the past, but of late has shown more signs of wanting to stabilize into a plant with white centres in the leaves. I'm not sure how much longer I'll grow it and I may withdraw the garden name as well.
