@Lucy68 dietes is a common iris here, 3 petals, - that color is not a Louisiana Iris 'laevigata' color and is blooming down near south Cali, south Az, south Tx
Bearded iris are old German iris of the 'flag designation' and do not grow in massive clumps, but from a fan of a root.

Hi and Welcome! to the site!

I know nothing about Iris but I did a quick look through our database and found this Louisiana Iris that looks similar.

Iris have 6 petals - 3 on a bottom layer and 3 on top. The photos of Louisiana iris plants look pretty big and clumpy.

We don't know were OP lives.

DuckDuckGo took over my laptop, and has issues with my id's but it seems they are now calling butterfly iris and Louisiana iris an African iris. Wonder if Latin names are still indicative of color traits?
@Sonnytees if you are satisfied with the answer, will you mark the thread 'closed?'

It's not a Dietes.
If you look at pic#2, you can see a typical Iris bloom stalk with medium-sized leaves clasping the stem, as opposed to a thinner stem with very restricted clasping bracts as in Dietes.

I wonder when the pic was taken?
I have taken the liberty of trimming and darkening the original pic.
Maybe this will help.
To me it resembles Iris ensata with those large petals...so many named cultivars to look at.

@Sonnytees, I hope you didn't mark this as ID'd prematurely. Did you decide on an ID? We have three suggestions floating here.

I too had considered Iris ensata - I have several in my yard and they are certainly similar to your photo. And probably more common then Louisiana Iris. I couldn't find one with ruffles though but that's when I found the photos similar to the one Lin posted of 'waihi'.

Looking at the scale of flowers to leaves, I think Louisiana is closer. I think I. ensata usually has bigger flowers than those appear to be.

Glad you got the answer.
There are many named cultivars.
No idea how you decide which is which.

eg Iris Louisiana White Umbrella.

eg Iris Louisiana Dainty Lace

eg.Iris Louisiana Dural White Butterfly.
