Three of these plants appeared in my Mediterranean region garden. I'm pretty sure I didn't plant them. I never install three specimens of the same plant without knowing it's name! This plant has an unusual mottled stem and interesting white streaks on the leaves. It hasn't yet blossomed. Please identify!

That's correct! I verified it with an Internet search. I now racall having added this plant to my garden. I installed one specimen (not three) so finding three plants was puzzling. I learned, according to the Missouri Botanical Garden, that this plant " Spreads by self-seeding and bulb offsets." The unusual spathe, which should appear soon, would have helped me to ID the plant.
Mystery solved!
