I think I'll set out my tomatoes today. I have 3 Celebrity variety. I also have 2 bell and 2 jalapeno pepper plants but I may wait a couple of weeks on those. I'm going to put some bloodmeal (13-0-0) in the hole first this year. How much should I put in each?

I don't put anything in the hole, a lot of people do.
I water all of my annuals, perennials and veggies once a month with Jack's 20-20-20. It is their flower and vegetable blend according to them.
I mix in a 5 gallon pail at one tsp. per gallon.

I would not put bloodmeal (13-0-0) in the bottom of the hole because the plant will leaf out instead of set fruit. Nitrogen promotes foliage and not flowers or fruit.
NOT A EXPERT! Just a grow worm! I never met a plant I didn’t love.✌

My first question is, why did you decide on blood meal?

You can fertilize planting holes or you can fertilize the whole bed. Many techniques work. Everything depends on your soil composition and bed layout. But you really have to understand what you're doing and most importantly, why you're doing it.

If you don't understand about NPK and what the various nutrients do for the plants, you're better off using any of the dozens of all-purpose fertilizer blends on the market like Nick is describing. When you DYI with individual nutrients, you risk throwing off the balance and interactions necessary for healthy growth and end up, as Luke mentioned, with unintended results.
