7/31/15 *UPDATE* Please scroll down to my most recent post for current availability! The prices and plants in this post are from 2013, and are only for reference. π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄Won't someone help me please! I'm about to be over run with colocasias!π They are just popping up everywhere, I've run out of room, run out of pots and dirt, and I'm running the water bill up!π± I ask you please be reasonable and understand that I'm pretty busy, and not always going straight to garden and shipping plants that day, but I try to ship ASAP... they aren't going anywhere, I promise! Prices posted are a range, as are the size of plants available. Shippings not included but will generally not be $5-$10 unless you want lots! $20 shipping gets alot of plants in the mail! If you would prefer,we can do a transaction through eBay, peace of mind, but at a cost to both parties... Tree mail me AND post here if interested and we can work out the specifics! I accept PayPal, and checks or... Cash..But we all know that's not a good idea! Minimum of $5+s/h I only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays unless we make other arrangements! What's available right now: 7/29/13: Colocasia violet stem: $1-$15 ![]() ![]() Growing upto 8' tall or more, this is the most vigorous EE I've grown! Medium sized dark olive flat matte leaves, with deep purple petioles, and large yellow blooms from mid summer on! A great place to start on EE if you've not tryied them yet! Colocasia Big Dipper: $5-10 ![]() Upto 8' tall very similar to violet stem above, leaves are rather velvety and once mature held upright, and cup, forming a basin that catches water! Colocasia coffee cups: $5-15 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Growing to about 6' for most gardeners, possibly 7' max, Leaves are dramatically cupped to hold water! These are a good grower, but less vigorous than the 2 above. The leaves are a deep dark olive green, and from an early age they are the most slick, shiny, glossy leaves you can imagine With very dark purple/black petioles(stems) extending up the leaf back with purple! Colocasia Fontenesii black stem:$5-10 ![]() ![]() ![]() Upto 8' with a very dark stem, and very dark olive slick, glossy leaves, they become ruffled once mature, large yellow flower. Colocasia black runner: $5-$15 ![]() ![]() A medium EE, much improved over black magic, in my opinion. Leaves emerge a bright blue green, but promptly turn a deep velvety purple black, with black stems! Unlike black magic these form tubers! So they can be reliably winter stored, and they run, so you will have a non stop supply of more... Colocasia black beauty: $5-$10 ![]() ![]() Basically an improved illistris Medium height, to about 4' leaves are nearly all black, true black, not purple, the only green is along the veins of the leaf, stems are light green with some dark color near the lower portion, spreads under ground rapidly, making plants about a foot away from the parent. Colocasia Diamondhead: $7-$25 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Growing to 4'+ with large rippled glossy leaves, emerging green with purple veins, in shade will mature to a strange purplish to chocolate brown, in full sun they quickly turn dark DARK purple, they can appear to be truly black. They have purple to dark purple stems and form a nice clump. Colocasia Elena: $10 ![]() ![]() ![]() To about 4' tall these sport bright chartreuse leaves with a red eye in the center, irreplaceable contrast! Especially against the many dark varieties... Colocasia fallax: $10 A tiny dwarf species, rarely exceeding 10" they have subtle silver markings surrounding a central vein pattern, very cute! These spread quickly and bloom reliably, but can be a little tough to start sometimes Colocasia NOID: $7-$15 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looks to be a mutation of Chicago Harlequin! This is my first year with this plant, it grows well, much better CH, the very heart shaped leaf shows extremly variable leaf variegation, ranging from plain blue green leaves to blue green blotched with lighter green, half and half leaves, and several more combos, there's also white marks on most leaves. Stems blush bright red at the top fading to a pale whitish green at the base, sometimes showing very distinct vertical dark green stripes. These spread by runners... Lots of them! π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄π΄ For lots more beautiful elephant ear pics you can see what We've been posting here: http://garden.org/thread/go/17... And many more: http://garden.org/thread/go/35... π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π°π° This is my mostly complete list of EE! Plants with asterisk are possibly for sale, but price and availability may vary widely! If you you have bulb forming aroids, elephant ears and voodoo lilies! That I don't have it's very likely I'd be interested in a trade! Just contact me! Do you know what zone most of these are hardy to? Or do you have to dig them every fall? Thanks! |

Gen said:Do you know what zone most of these are hardy to? Or do you have to dig them every fall? That's a rather complicated question...I'm in z6 and nearly all of them I try are in fact hardy here if planted in a dry spot for winter, and heavily mulched! Even EE that are only hardy in z9-11...come back for me... That said I dry store most of mine inside in closets and the crawl space... It allows me to force them early in pots and have half grown specimens by the time I plant out in may! That's how I get them so big, even in our short season... I was looking for ees and glad I found you. The fact that they can be shaded with the castor bean plants is a great idea. Sending you a tree mail.. A. |

I'd love to have one of them! But, my problem is not having alot of shade. Can they tolerate direct sunlight? "Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it." - Russel Baker |

Are you still selling these ? I'm interested in the Colocasia fallax. God gave us wings. He just called them horses |
Swayback Feb 8, 2014 5:42 PM CST |
Sales are suspended until spring/summer... I've lost many plants to the frigid weather this winter, many will survive but many have already perished! I'm pretty bummed about it, but I've come back from worse... Stock and prices will change! Thanks a lot for checking this out...
