Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

I've got tons of Zebra Longwings flying around the house.

Thumb of 2013-08-03/mellielong/319a4d

And I've also got a Gulf Frit flying around.

Thumb of 2013-08-03/mellielong/ebbc25

And I caught a tiny Cassius Blue on the jatropha.

Great shots Melanie! Looks like the Zebra Longwing has damaged wings? It amazes me how they can still fly when something takes bites out of their wings. Nice one of the Gulf Frit and I really like the Cassius Blue; one of my favorite little ones! Thumbs up

Thanks Lin, that is Sallyfun Blue Salvia --- got it at Lowe's & the butterflies & hummers simply can't get enough of it!!!! It's stood up well to the heat & sun too.
Salvia (Salvia farinacea Sallyfun™ Blue)
Pretty red banded hairstreak.

Thanks Dave. Sometimes I can be pretty stubborn. Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Ooooo Melanie -- good catch with the Cassius blue!

Here's a few I took at the museum today...First up is a Monarch

Then, a Long-Tailed Skipper

Thumb of 2013-08-04/mellielong/db10ab

A Zebra Longwing on firebush

Thumb of 2013-08-04/mellielong/488671

Cloudless Sulphur on Mexican petunias (don't know why we still have those flowers - evil, invasive things)

Thumb of 2013-08-04/mellielong/f866da

Then, I came home and saw this skipper sunning himself

Thumb of 2013-08-04/mellielong/4c893e

And my usual Duskywing was on the porterweed

Thumb of 2013-08-04/mellielong/b63cb9

And finally, a Spicebush Swallowtail on the plumbagos! All in all, a good day!

Thanks everyone! There were a bunch of Polydamas flying around but they never stop so you can take a picture. Even when they nectar they're only at one flower for a second before they move on. But I'm raising a bunch of Polydamas caterpillars so I'll have pictures for sure in a couple of weeks. I also have some Pipevine ST eggs, but I've never had much luck raising them. I guess we'll see. I also have some just-hatched Eastern Black STs. I'm going to take them to the museum next week because I don't have enough food to raise them to adulthood.

Hi Claudia! Good to see you here!

Here's one of the two Monarchs I released today. I had a boy and a girl.

Thumb of 2013-08-05/mellielong/dcadac

And then this Zebra Longwing was laying eggs on my Passiflora lutea. I thought the plant was dead because it lost all its leaves after I planted it but apparently it's back! And leave it to the Zebra Longwing to find it! Those little yellow dots are the eggs.
