Well here we are already into Aug.! A few busy days getting things caught up for the needed rain moving in as I type. I don't water the beds so they are looking forward to a drink after putting on a great show during peak the last week and 1/2.
Beautiful images in the July thread, loved seeing all the whites. I seriously need to add more to the garden...list is getting longer.... Whistling A few other images that spoke to me, Beyond Riches and Wild Child, the clump shot of Webster's Pink Wonder. Wish mine would hurry and clump. I moved it 2 years ago and it has been settling in, maybe next year. I'm behind on adding blooms to the July thread so will just continue with these still blooming in August.

Thank you Natalie, Theresa & Juli. Jellyroll Morton is one of my favorites, vibrant, saturated color, tall, super plant...wonderful and worth adding to the garden.
I was surprised when I logged in this afternoon to see an August Bloom thread hadn't been started yet...I know I'm up here in the chilly north but surely I'm not the only one with blooms.... Smiling

I'm sure I have a bunch, including a number of ffo's this morning before I left for a motorcycle trip to lobsterland for a few days...

Char, I too love your Jellyroll Morton. Outstanding flower.

I still have some FFO's appearing in my garden as well as some outstanding blooms. Rain, sunshine, and cooler nights present deeper colors as assets, but some of those frilly edged plants need help with opening--not so good. Let's see what is blooming in the garden today.

INDIAN GIVER - FFO

ROUND AND ROUND WE GO - FFO- E. Shooter- DIP- Has been in he garden for 3 yrs., never bloomed. Nice surprise.

Thumb of 2013-08-02/ARoseblush/5f2717

BLUE BEAT - FFO- TWINS - Always a late bloomer in my garden, and always spectacular. One of my fav's!

ROYAL CYPHER - FFO- Added to the garden last year but didn't bloom. Not bad as an ffo- but a way to go to fulfill it's genetics. Will watch this one closely and post further blooms down the road.

BARBARA MORELLO- FFO- Added to the garden in 2010. Never bloomed until yesterday. This is one of the first Nicole blooms that she presented as a hybridizer years ago. I must admit it doesn't at all look like her picture, but then again it's a ffo. The beginnings of that yellow edge is apparent, but the color and edge have a long way to go. Will re-post as further blooms occur.

ESP - FFO - John Shooter - DIP - Always lovely.

TED'S TRIBUTE TO LINDA - FFO - Wowza! This flower is close to 9" in size, and needed some help to open for me to take her picture. Hence the rip in the left petal. I apologize. It's beauty is obvious. Ruffles galore.

WHO'S THAT GIRL? This is the mistaken plant sent by Pete Harry, supposed to be Indigo Edge. Huge flower.

Thumb of 2013-08-02/ARoseblush/b24403

ANN HATHAWAY'S GARDEN - FFO- Gaskins- Planted last Fall. Sweet!

SUSAN ELINOR - Encore- Last bloom on this lovely Nicole flower. Been blooming for a month and has outperformed for me.

BARBARA MANDRELL - Another outperformer! Has bloomed for 6 weeks consistently with more to come. Although the cooler temps have taken away some of her beautiful fluffy white edge, she still brightens my garden with her beautiful blooms.

Very nice blooms Alex. It's nice to see that some of Nicole's do well in your zone. I may be moving to zone 4 within a couple of years so seeing your blooms encourages me that they will grow.

Cindy....Oh how wonderful to have you as a neighbor. As a postscript, I have 17 Nicole plants in my garden. She is one of my favorite hybridizers, and her plants have never failed me. I marvel at just how well they do in my zone. The substance in her flowers are truly amazing. It's like they are made out of a plastic mold. The scapes are strong like steel. Amazing!

Char, I really do love that JELLYROLL MORTON, and your picture is absolutely superb! And the other daylilies look fantastic too -- I keep looking at BLUE BEAT, DREAM SEQUENCE and BARBARA MANDRELL and thinking -- well, maybe in time I'll have enough space... Rolling on the floor laughing

I still have a few rebloomers hanging in there:
MINERAL SPRINGS

ORCHID PRELUDE

LIMA

TET. TIME STOPPER - A blended duo!

WILD DREAMS

ROLLERCOASTER RUSH - I didn't see this one until the noon hour, after it had been baking in our 100 degree sunlight for a while, so it looks very faded -- but I'm finally starting to see the wonderful edges like the Floyd Cove picture shows. And please keep in mind that in my climate I don't get nearly the extravagant edges that people in the eastern half of the country get, so I can't wait to see what yours look like! And if I can catch another bloom earlier in the day I'll be sure and post another picture or two. I've really grown attached to this daylily after seeing its metamorphosis over the past four or five months!

Oh guys, I am just so excited. Jumping out of my skin here. I have a small seedling bed in the front of my home which holds about 60 seedlings that I started last July 2012. I have a one year old seedling that bloomed today. This doesn't happen in Vermont. None of the other seedlings will bloom this year, and I didn't expect them to. I grew this from seed in the Winter of 2011, and planted it in July 2012. The seedling only has only ONE bloom on it, and here it is.

D1-July 2012- BLUE GRASS MUSIC X ROYAL CYPHER (about 5" flower)

Dormantsrule....It's a miracle wrapped around 'beginner's luck! When I saw the small scape back in July, I was dumbfounded. Didn't want to say anything. Frankly, I didn't know what to say. I crossed my fingers and ignored it, for fear it would fall off, or be eaten by the chipmunks. Today when out on the daylily hill taking pictures on the side of my house, I remembered that seedling. I walked around to the front of the house, and looked down at my seedling bed. OMG, it was in full bloom. I could not believe it. I just starred at it. It is beautiful for the first flower ever. Pale apricot background with that bright purple/mauvish eye, repeated beautifully on the edge. I am in complete shock. At my age, I questioned whether I should even get into dealing with daylily seeds because of the amount of time it takes to bring a seedling to an adult lily. But I decided to give it a try. I am glad i did.

These seeds were won on the LA from seed seller Darlene. Thank-you, Darlene. I tip my hat to you.
