A few weeks ago a Robin member (Jennie Sivyer in the UK I think) posted a link to one of her Picasa albums and I had a grand time looking through the rest of her various themed albums. (click on her name in the upper left side in the link below to see them all) My favorite was one on green throats. I LOVE daylilies with intense green throats, something like a bright apple green or a large sized throat of green, basically, any daylily that you look at and the first thing you notice is the green throat. There are lots of daylilies with green throats and I have a few but I am looking for the 'WOW, that's screamin' green'! I want to start collecting more of them. Here is the album: http://picasaweb.google.com/je... Please share your green throats! (the below picture doesn't count ![]() ![]() My gardening Blog! Don't know if these qualify, but these seem to have greenish throats: Skinwalker and Helix Smaller throats, but pretty bright green: The Hulk and Exquisitely Subversive ![]() ![]() Don't know about these, but I really love 'em: Much Ado About Magic and Free Wheelin' They're not exactly screamers... Maybe not screaming but at least the spiders have the potential to have the bigger green throats. When i looked through all my images I found all kinds of green throats but smaller. It certainly made me more aware looking through them that I needed larger and more intense green throated daylilies. (noted I said I need them LOL) ![]() Here's my Mom's Sergeant Major ![]() and her Magic of Oz and Spiral Nebula My gardening Blog! Handmade quilts, face masks, new & vintage fabrics in my Etsy store. Those are good examples Fred, I especially like the last one, the green eye is like a beacon with the light midribs flaring out. My gardening Blog! Handmade quilts, face masks, new & vintage fabrics in my Etsy store. Summer Song Cottage Instagram Sewing posts |

Thanks for adding those Kim, I especially like Lillian's Womans Touch! And look how great that dark purple of Kansas Kitten sets off the green even though it's a relatively small throat! I'm off to go look up French Twist now. My Mom's Eureka is coming in handy. ![]() My gardening Blog! Handmade quilts, face masks, new & vintage fabrics in my Etsy store. Curt Hanson's KISSED OFF has the greenest throat of any daylily I have grown. The color of the flower does not carry in a photo, no matter what camera I have used. It's not quite as vibrant as this shows, but it is an unusual rosy-red. so many people like big edges, eyes, etc ---- but for me? Give me a wonderfully saturated self any day! I have only kept about 75 named daylilies - I had over 800 before I got RSD. Plus hundreds more over the years. Kissed off is still here. It's in no danger of going anywhere! In addition to being really pretty, it has great bud count, and often reblooms. It's only fault is that the flowers are right above the foliage. ![]() and with other daylilies.... I would say this photo shows the color pretty darn close. ![]() |
